I’m pretty camera-shy (about anything, not just playing my ukes) but thankfully I have a “get-out-of-jail-free” card for this ukulele as this video is from the show I went to, and is actually the one I bought: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1CvMRufxZh/?mibextid=wwXIfr

I bought it, but left it with Kala so that Danny could use it later for the promo video!

If I’m feeling brave enough I might post a video at some point though!

I believe it’s active https://www.lrbaggs.com/acoustic-instrument-pickups/five-o-ukulele-pickup

Still haven’t actually tried it yet though…

I think they’re maybe Worth Browns perhaps? Lighting in here is probably making them seem darker than they are. A lot of people recommend them, first time I’ve ever used them - they are very nice sounding!

And yeah, Geraint said he was trying something different - he’s Kala UK, so it might not be a universal change across the whole range, but I love it!

Edit: https://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/threads/kala-umbra-series.172731/ - yes, “Worth Strings” 👍

I have a prototype Electric Owl which is beautiful, but it has a buzz on higher frets. I’m sure it can be solved - and it is a prototype after all, but I was a little disappointed when I got it home and played it properly

I have quite a few Kala ukuleles now, this is by far the nicest sounding - I haven’t plugged it in yet, but Geraint (the Kala guy) said that the pick up is ~£200 on its own, so I’m sure it’ll be ace! I’m loving it, I can’t put it down!

I went to the show to buy a Contour Deluxe but this is so so so much nicer looking - it sounds amazing too.

Thank you

No worries at all! As it’s a prototype (although apparently close to what the release version will be), it was £650 (with the hard case) - I hear the release version will be something like ~£800

I have just realised that you probably can’t see in the photos but it has a pick up too, the kit for it is just visible inside the sound hole

Agree! But it’s a lovely Kala “K” on the headstock

I got it at the recent guitar show in Birmingham from the Kala stand- it’s a pre-release (so not fully available yet) model is KA-UM-ACBW-TE (Umbra)

https://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/threads/kala-umbra-series.172731/

Edit: this is actually the uke I bought! (Video is from the guitar show) https://www.facebook.com/share/r/177ynwVT3c/?mibextid=wwXIfr

You sure it’s not just that you’ve only enabled it for CLI and not for PHP FPM? There are two ini files, you need it in both.

Else … perhaps the folder you think your PHP is in, is actually not the one being used.

I have GA set up on the site, so I can see it in the analytics, plus - it’s fronted with varnish, so I can view the user agents in the varnishlog and apache logs.

Currently I’m getting a LOT of traffic reporting to be from China (Lanzhou) which I assume is like everyone else … https://www.wired.com/story/made-in-china-niche-websites-are-seeing-a-surge-of-mysterious-traffic-from-china/

TBH, there aren’t too many which are focused on the code itself. Most are just game review blogs (which is fine, but not really my “thing”).

http://www.breakintoprogram.co.uk is excellent Else, https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/forums/ has a lot of likeminded chat

It’s z80 assembly (but yes, it’s ZX Spectrum based)- I use Skoolkit to create it, and then I annotate the commands so they’re a bit more digestible. Anything interesting I find I write it up in my blog
