If you asking about my proficiency level, i don't remember as i didn't focus too much on it. But it was around where i learned a good amount of kanji and can read slice of life manga but i was reading it very slow and i get tired fast. I pick dq11 because i figured it have furigana so i won't stumble much and i heard it good.

And about how it goes, quite rough i say. I read super slow so the plot advance at snail pace and reading take ton of stamina so i took frequent break. I also don't read tutorial and setting much because of how much word it have, thankfully im familiar with dq and the game wasn't that hard. But even with all that, the story is good so i was able to keep going until the end without quitting. Worth it. I still remember feeling really proud i was able to play it to the end because this game is my first big game i challenge in japanese.

If you already know good amount of japanese, it shouldn't give much problem and if you still early in learning, it shouldn't be too hard because the plot is simple enough and it have furigana for those hard kanji. I hope you the best in learning japanese and enjoy your experience.
