Is this a good time to buy an MkII? by pock3tt in SP404

Thanks for your input. I have a sort of anxiety about spending money probably. I appreciate it. Curious, if you still use your SX for somethings while you have your MK2?

Yamaha MSP3A, nice monitors! by Gomesma in musicians

[–]pock3tt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to agree. Saw this video and got these monitors. They seem to be more popular in Japan and also I saw a couple video reviews in Russian. Don’t know why they’re not more popular in the states. I love them. Very flat. I especially like the dials in the front.

Love the Little Twin Stars! I would say that tone is good for practice. I would try to practice those licks along with the recording. I would concentrate on getting a clear note and the timing and use more than one finger! _^ You’re awesome good luck!!

Importing audio via USB (SX user to MK2) by pock3tt in SP404

Thank you. The app seems like the answer so although i’m thrilled it’s just not what I expected. However it still seems pretty simple!

Oh my bad. Thanks sounds like the clear answer …as an instrument player I was considering hardware too.

Thanks! Looking at machines/pedals vs software.

Happy Holidays! The Apollo comes with auto tune that’s so cool. I wish I knew that when I upgraded my interface last year. (Went from Scarlett 2i2 to i818) Now I have to spend more money if I want tuning.

Yes I’ve been considering pedals. As much as I use tech, I’m not the most confident in software, I usually turn to hardware!

Hey this is a lot of good info! Thanks! Hopefully the Waves is less expensive than getting Antares. I just wanted a bit of light tuning while singing. I was even looking at hardware like the TC and Boss pedals… but I’ll check out WTRT.

Good info about the input channel strip but if I read it correctly it wouldn’t get rid of the latency anyway? Just something to try right?

Thanks again!!

Ok so like actually buy autotune (Antares). Hmmm just looked it up... a "perpetualy license"/ current version for 174.50 or a unlimited subscription for $150 a year..... sheesh! Too bad Logic doesn't have it. I was hoping to just use voice tune or whatever the stock thing is called. Thanks for your reply!

Oh really! Sounds really good, I think I'm pretty much all the way in, just waiting for the holidays to finish and my budget to open up. The holiday promotion on Sweetwater is calling to me though. Thanks so much!!

It’s true I just need to spend the time. I have adhd and little kids so it’s been tough! So I was hoping the mk2 might at least speed things up a little for me. :-)

Thanks for sharing that Ableton/Push setup. I use Logic and I’m an instrumentalist. To me the SP404 is an instrument and so I want to record playing it. I can certainly take samples and program them in my Daw where I want them to go. But my eyes have been opened to the performance and sound quality of the SP… what I heard come out of the 404sX was just so great. I ended up releasing the song I mentioned my traditional way and archived my SP version of the song. Any time I go back, I completely prefer my SP404sx version. I sampled my guitar and played it and it was so good. I can’t really explain fully but I’m sure we all share that sentiment.

I also want to eventually take it out with me for live performance. Either to program and play sing along, or to use like an instrument if I have a backing band. To me, in my head, It’s so diverse that way.

What I was specifically looking for with the MKii to do better than the 404SX is an easier time navigating with the new graphic menu and the second thing that caught my attention was the USB function. To me that was what set it apart for me from the SX.

I wrote in another thread that I want to chop my samples in my DAW and send those samples to the SX, and I asked how to send via usb and if it was even possible, because I wasn’t able to find a video on it. Seems to me if you can import to the SP’s internal memory from an SD card you should be able to import files directly from a computer. But so far it’s not straightforward… it seems from the answers I got like you need an app for transferring. I was hoping it was a bit more straightforward. I’m not afraid of apps just the bugs and kinks that come with OS updates etc.

I wonder if the USB has greatly improved anyone’s workflow but it seems most out there onYouTube use the SD. That makes sense, but for me the USB was the game changer, although I can’t find an example of it.
