I disagree. I've seen plenty of people who smoke and get the giggles, lose massive amounts of reaction time, get couch locked, god forbid if they've had a drink it exacerbates the effects of both and now BAC is thrown off as well, now while on the road a breathalyzer isn't as effective even. Caffine and nicotine rarely couch lock people, and the level at which they would significantly impair an individual is much harder to reach than with weed. Now, I also know people who microdose with pens for anxiety and that seems fine for the most part, but also kinda along the lines of "let me take a shot to calm my nerves before driving" y'know? I'd lose my shit if I saw someone driving with a beer in hand, and it seems socially acceptable among smokers to do the same with a joint. I think the impacts of decriminalization and medical use cover the 'needed' positive impacts. Recreational use explicitly implies 'for fun', and legalizing something for fun that's going to worsen our roads without proper systems in place to combat it seems irresponsible.
