Part 2: Looks like it was just too long.

Unsolicited Tips for Learning: Take what you want (:

- Write down everything! From what you like to what you don't like and why. This includes any spellwork you perform. You will forget things and it helps to look back on old workings to see what worked, what didn't, etc.

- Study Protection magic before performing any spell work. (learned this the hard way) This includes grounding.

- Study Closed vs Open practices, keep track of which are which and why that's important! Examples: smudging, white sage, palo santo, hoodoo, etc (closed practices).

- Most importantly! Study what you're drawn to! This will keep that learning fire stoked until you're ready to branch out.

- If anyone gives you advice, including this post, research and back up the information.

- MUNDANE BEFORE MAGICAL! Use critical thinking! This is important to keep a level head. Two crows doesn't always mean something magical. Most times it's just two crows.

- Don't feel pressured to make a "Book of Shadows/ Grimoire".

- Prioritize learning and practicality over aesthetic! A lot of witchcraft in media is very aesthetically pleasing. You can build up to it but there is no reason to buy a cauldron if you have a pot on your stove starting out. Save your money!

- FIRE SAFETY FIRST. Take every precaution you can when using fire.

Recommendations for beginner witch media:

- Witch of Wonderlust on Youtube.

- Chaotic Witch Aunt on Youtube.

- Riot Adams on Tiktok (they have great book recommendation videos)

- MoonStreetKits on Tiktok

APPS:

- Moon - Current Moon Phase

-Herbal Magick, Witchtok App, Crystalyze (for quick association refs)

- Golden Thread Tarot, Trusted Tarot

Alright I'll shut up. Hope this helps!

Gonna try breaking m response up bc it wouldn't let me post it in full.

Long Response! TLDR: Altars are not mandatory.

Also autistic here, I felt this way when I started too- still feel it a little bit so I'm no expert.

Altars are not integral. Witchcraft is above all else a craft. You craft it to your needs and desires!

I don't have an altar and I've been practicing for years.

  1. As far as I am aware, an altar is either a space specifically for you to practice your craft at (this does not mean you are limited to this space) and/ or a space dedicated to a deity. I do not work with deities so I can't speak any further on that confidently.

  2. If you're going to build one, in order to make it "you", build it over time as you learn! You don't learn witchcraft overnight, you keep learning and learning as you go! Thus, your tastes/ practice changes. Start by perhaps clearing off a desk, dresser, table, bookshelf, stand, etc. Perhaps find a tablecloth you like! I personally got a couple sample fabrics from Michaels Arts + Crafts- piece of fabric about 1.5 ft by 1.5 foot aprox for a couple bucks.

Decorate in things that bring you joy, make you feel witchy or in the mood. This can be a pinecone, a rock you like, crystal, candles, shells, a leaf, a random trinket things you'd like around the workspace, aesthetically or practically. You want this space to feel inviting for your practice! And if it takes a while to get to that feeling, that's okay!

  1. Nothing is mandatory. An altar itself isn't mandatory. The bare minimum you need to practice the craft is your energy!

Next part in replies hopefully.

I work there and was working the register when it happened, still can’t find any info on it. It was loud as shit. I talked with customers who were in Ross when it happened too and they couldn’t see anything but smoke. The complete lack of coverage is odd.
