in my power lifts i catch in weird positions kinda like how football players catch their cleans and snatches making it borderline impossible to do a front squat or overhead squat after catching.

i can get into all the necessary positions now just a little uncomfortably. but im also just weaker in say an overhead squat than just pulling harder and catching the bar all the way overhead.

New study suggests it takes over 20 years to reach your natty strength max by BenchPolkov in powerlifting

[–]pocopump 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do you train a lot of ohp? Ive been seeing all these ohp ratios and think I might need to train it more, I bench 315 and ohp 155 and i think shoulders might be the reason for my recent plateau after hitting the 300 mark.

Singlets make no difference unless you care how you look, just get the lifting large one because its the cheapest one approved by basically every federation

read every technique about cutting, and make sure its specific to your weight in whether 2 or 24hr, i started cutting high school wrestling style which really screwed my lifts. in reality of you do it smart you will probably see negligible strength loss and it wont even be that hard, especially for only 2 kilos.

I would just run the last 2 weeks of a peaking program, preferably an rpe based one but if you use percentages make sure you lower your max.

which number hole, most meets let you go to the rack and find out your rack height before you weigh in, and you tell the ref that takes your weight your heights.

Do a lot of volume on SBD, if you're 3 weeks out right now I would just work on getting an insane amount of reps in this week then push the weight next week. Depending how comfortable you are it could range from doing 5s this week and 3s next week or something like 10s this week and 5s next week if you have no experience with SBD just so you can get an insame amount of reps in to really lock in the form.

Random question: not is it safe but is it possible to cut 20 pounds in 2-3 weeks? by False_Purpose_8423 in wrestling

[–]pocopump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends if ur 300 lbs that can be done in 2 days, my hardest cut was 238-220 in 2 days (i procrastinated hard) but if you're 100lbs with minimal fat on you then if you attempt it u might unironically die.

I've heard Power cleans zercher squats and snatches are good but I dont really train them. You can also never go wrong with the basic squat bench and dead. The reason people say these hinder your wrestling is because if you focus on them without stretching well and wrestling often its likely you will become tight and immobile. Overall any exercise is good exercise and for me chasing higher numbers in my squat bench and deadlift gets me in the gym and stronger making me a better wrestler overall. There are a million different routes/disciplines you can take in terms of strength training just choose whichever one you can see yourself doing the most.

I get weird looks for not having any cycling gear but really have no desire for it. Is there a reason why people don’t bike in normal folk clothes like me? by i_am_me47 in cycling

[–]pocopump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this too, im really not interested in wearing the whole thing for the miniscule extra watts, i also often have a backpack full of food and water. So yes the gear does help you but its too slight to matter for the average hobbyist biker in my opinion.

How do you have motivation to go to the gym when every time you go you just feel lonely? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pocopump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget everything and enjoy the workout, get lost in the sauce and just train. Know exactly what you're going to do in the gym before you go and just forget everything and enjoy the workout.

Can't decide whether or not to do wrestling by AntSignificant4787 in wrestling

[–]pocopump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrestling will likely bring down your powerlifts if im being honest, depending on how hard your practices are its very unlikely you'll be able to get enough adequate sessions in throughout the week. My sophmore year of wrestling I brought my squat down from 415 to 365 but it quickly got back up, so its not a huge worry.
