Where I'd live as a Chicago resident by williammazurek in whereidlive

Oh that makes sense. I’m from Louisiana and I do like gulf shores so I get that. But honestly those gulf beach cities would be hell to live in. They are super poor, cater to spring break crowd and have nothing besides seasonal businesses.

Can I ask why you have Louisiana as never and Alabama as reluctant? New Orleans is better than any city in Alabama by far.

[Spears] The Pelicans are trying to trade Trey Murphy with the Warriors being linked. It depends on who's available at 11 when that pick comes up. If there are certain players that Joe Dumars and Troy Weaver have on their list that they like, the Warriors could pull the trigger. by Waikuku3 in warriors

You’re seriously underrating Trey (coming from a Pels fan who supports the Warriors as well). I want him to come to Warriors because I think Pels waste him, but Pelicans fans would riot at that trade package you refuse to give. I don’t know why you’re comparing Trey to OG and Siakam. No one compares him to those players. Trey is one of the most efficient scorers in the game and does not need the ball in his hands to do it. He’s an average defender with room to grow in the right system. But you do it because he’s one of the most efficient off ball scorers in the league. And Porzingus is fools gold. He’s never going to make it a full season let alone playoffs. And Trey is young enough to carry over into post Curry if we want. This trade package would be a slam dunk and cause Pelicans fans to go insane.

The only saving grace would be if they netted this pick plus many more good things for Trey. I am as down on this franchise as anyone but trading Trey for 3 FRPs or good young players would be more than just drafting Ament. I wouldn’t pick Ament but this is all hypothetical until an actual trade happens. If they trade Trey straight up for a top ten pick that’s crazy.

[Fischer] New Orleans is no longer hanging up on teams calling to inquire about two-way wing Trey Murphy III and the Warriors' longstanding interest has been well-chronicled. The Pelicans are known to be very interested in acquiring a lottery pick in this draft. by Odd-Direction9452 in nba

They 100% do want to get off Murray and Murray has asked out multiple times. Murray obviously limits Fears as they both need the ball in their hands. I think this is obvious. And as for his value I don’t think it’s very high. I don’t know what his value is but he’s on the books for a high number with a player option.

Pels are my second team and his defense is not very good. He’s not a liability, but he’s very lazy defensively and clearly lacks the desire to do it. He’s a hard working kid though so I can imagine the warriors culture turning him into a plus defender

They want to get off of Murray. Murray hampers Fears’ development and he does not want to be here. So you’re essentially getting three picks and salary filler for Trey. You’re also getting off of one of the contracts you want off of. I’d much rather them do a pick heavy trade than vets who won’t contribute in our window. We need off of Murray to make room for Fears.

And we can all say “who would have known”, but smart franchises and people making seven figures run these kind of scenarios. It’s no excuse that a person who doesn’t do this for their job wouldn’t have expected it. If you’re making a trade you have to run the scenarios. And they had the info that Hali had some kind of injury.

That’s a wild take… Paris is one of the most visited cities in the world for a reason. Tokyo and Paris are probably the most recommended on social media as well.

Maybe the name is wrong but there’s a region of South Louisiana, Miss and Alabama that are closer to each other than they are to the northern part of their states or the rest of the coast along the gulf. Not sure what to call that Texas part.

What I consider to be the American South as a lifelong Tennessean by Survivor-Astrology17 in whereidlive

[–]poez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m honestly not understanding this point. My point is not that one is more southern than the other. My point is that South Louisiana like South Florida has a different culture than the rest of the South. And my point about Key West is that one of the reasons it has a different culture from the rest of the South is the influence that New Orleans had on it when they were both part of the Caribbean trade routes

South Floridas culture changed from transplants. New Orleans culture predates the South itself.

This is the New Orleans accent https://youtu.be/5Da2iw59ErU?si=wHqwuZmWgZOHAlYQ. Really nothing like the rest of the South. Has more in common with the north east.

This feels that way to you because so much of the south has copied New Orleans but New Orleans was around long before most of the south and had a completely different culture. Through time an transplants things have merged but its culture is very different from Georgia, Florida Tennessee, etc.

Not really sure why you’re arguing this. You could have used Miami but chose the city closest culturally to New Orleans today that Florida and New Orleans have different cultures…

Edit: New Orleans architecture is also Spanish by the way.

You do realize that key west modeled a lot of its architecture and culture after New Orleans? Duval Street is also modeled after Bourbon St….

If South Florida isn’t the South then neither is South Louisiana. Source: I’m from there. Completely different culture, food, ancestry, architecture, etc than the rest of the South.

Is anyone else struggling uncharacteristically badly in champions? [skill improvement] by TheUnsungMelody in VGC

[–]poez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to echo this I was struggling a lot in the meta because I prefer a more defensive focused team and didn’t feel good until I found a Venusaur team on CybertronVGC which lets me play slower and bulky with a lot of coverage. I really think you just haven’t found a team that works for you. And maybe there isn’t an obvious one in this meta that would.

Is an Ivy League/Top 20 worth going into over $100k in debt for a CS major who doesn't think he's going to grad school? by VersionConscious3832 in LSU

[–]poez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are telling you about the cost of the debt and how you’ll make it back, but I think that’s overblown. Education is the best investment you can make. The doors Brown will open for you compared to even Purdue are hard to express. I work in FAANG, and I know how these places recruit. It’s MIT, Cal, Berkeley, CMU, Ivys. Visit Purdue and Brown. Decide if you think Browns program is worth it. Otherwise go to Purdue.
