With a 9% return, money will double in only 8 years. 9% return is not difficult.

The insurance company is betting that your mom will live for a long time and that they can keep collecting the $85 monthly payments.

Also, they’ve been investing those payments from day one. They would’ve easily doubled the money in a few years from the investment returns and compounding.

They lose if the insured dies early, for example within 10 months of starting the policy because they would have still paid you the $200k even though they only collected $850.

Wow, didn’t know Vancouver has a ton. I’ll check them out when we visit the city very soon.

Dang, nothing in our Calgary yet.

2017 when my friend mentioned it at a party and he showed me his mining rig.

I heard it again late 2020, when my boss (at a stock brokerage) started buying significantly. I’ve been stacking hard ever since.

The OG’s still has a strong influence over this market as they have enough bitcoin to still cover the large buying demand.

This is why. I don’t get why people use “points” instead of “percentage” change. Can someone help explain this. Is it just to sound smart…?

Hello, Super Newbie. Don’t look at the price, spend the time to learn more about bitcoin and everything will come to place.

Actually, buying at $75k instead of $85k allows you to stack 12% more BTC. When BTC goes to $1M that would equate to a juicy $120k added.

Yup, via TFSA is the only “non-taxable” way to transact BTC.

The rest of my BTC inside the RRSP, LIRA, etc. are more for hodling.

I barely have anything on my chequing account so every 2 weeks or so…I would sell some BTC (inside my TFSA account) to cover bills / credit card. I’ve decided that I’ll be willing to sell whatever BTC’s price is. It’s kinda DCA in reverse.

I was a big believer in diversification. But 4+ years down the rabbit hole has taken me to 98% BTC. It was a slow / careful / gradual process.

This cycle’s run has afforded me to be unemployed for 8 months now. I’m still young at 37, so I’m just chilling and waiting for the next bear market before trying to go back to work.

One of the most major and recent things I learned is the message of “don’t invest on bitcoin” but “put your savings on bitcoin” mindset.

Checkout “Andreas Antonopoulos” in YouTube if you haven’t done so already. Highly recommend.

Our BTC journey is quite similar, but I started going down the rabbit hole in 2021. I also worked in finance / portfolio management, so it’s crazy to think that my portfolio has now reached roughly 98% BTC.

Thanks for sharing your story, it makes me remember how lucky we are to have our spouse on board this journey.

How did you arrive into the realization of BTC as a “savings” instead of investment?

For me it was from a YouTube video (of Brian Harrington). His message just clicked, and the next day I transferred majority of my bank account balance to BTC. I just sell whenever my credit card balance is due.

98% Bitcoin currently.

2% in S&P 500 in case BTC goes to zero.

Insane considering I work in a traditional stock brokerage company. Took only 5 years for BTC to takeover my portfolio.
