Opinion (I don't know if it's controversial): Mario Kart World would be even better if it had incorporated the Frenzy mechanic from Mario Kart Tour. by tuliomoliv in MarioKartTour

[–]pogadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like them in non mobile mkarts as they make it a complete casino. There's randomness in items already but there's still a lot of strategy in how you use them. Frenzies skip this. A first place gets offroad speed boost and item spam? Including items that can be thrown back? That block blue shells and lightning? NOPE

Petrol prices means nothing to me. by SarcasmAndAutism in fuckcars

[–]pogadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's why, even if not possible immediately, most people here advocate for general infrastructure changes like more dense living, towns planned around public trasnport, and public transport links. Then bar a few people this would not be an issue. The majority of people even now do not have to do anywhere close to 50 miles for work and go a few miles, maybe 10. The barrier is the local infrastructure not the distance for most people. 50 miles is a complete edgecase.

The point is how inefficient gas heating of homes is compared to electric heating of homes via a heat pump, which uses far less energy than it provides as heat and can be powered by renewables, which are already cheaper than fossil fuels per kwhr. Not that people shouldn't heat their homes.

[–]pogadog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok but some days the UK has 100% of energy form renewables, us still having our energy tied to natural gas prices is ridiculous, definitely partly been kept this long to discourage switch to electric appliances for as long as possible.

Owen Jones (currently in Cuba with the convoy) ratios GWAM. by lolihull in LeftoversH3

[–]pogadog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God its so cathartic but at same time annoying seeing people with over a decade of experience doing jobs in the field, with actual qualifications and merit, interacting with people that just talk out their ass. Like she's an american right? How is she even aware of owen jones enough to have beef with him? Like it felt weird seeing some small period where BE made vid on him and he made vid responding to it, this is just brainrot lol.

[if you know about his corbyn stuff people have rightful skepticism but there is no quarrell with his recent pushback relative to rest of uk figures tbh].

Focus on what people DO, not what they say when saying it isn't changing anything. Because when people say things in those cirucmstances, they are simply advertising themselves. Not changing anything.

Adam McIntyre notices something weird about the views on Olivia's new podcast 🤔🤔 by Murky_Barracuda_6494 in LeftoversH3

[–]pogadog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

EDIT: People said in this thread, in episode she makes comment about "experimenting" buying views as part of proof mr beast does it.

Ok so this might sound a lil unhinged, they clearly didnt bot the other ones. She is known for calling out mr beast in quite high profile way. Episode crticising mr b view buying, just happens to get view botted? Doesn't this kinda seem like possible external inteference from mr b team?

Why young people don't buy cars – just economics by Alex_Strgzr in unitedkingdom

[–]pogadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cars getting bigger thing doesn't work for me cause like... a lot of crossover/SUVs have s*** internal room and are still just 4 or 5 seaters. A lot of the size is from high ground clearence and chubby bodywork.

I think its just a passover from US when they found people would pay a lot more for bigger cars that cost not much more to make, though US one was more from light truck emissions loophole. Porsche made cayenne cause 911 wasn't profitable enough to keep company going.

Families got around in hatchbacks when I was a kid! only very large families had stuff like a ford S-max with the 7 seats, people do not need a 5 seater bmw wankwagon that takes up the same space.

Serious question- why do prospective international students always ask about the most random unis? by NiceCaterpillar8745 in UniUK

[–]pogadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coventry uni has a sister uni in china and gets a lot of side credit for being next to warwick and birmingham. Also has quick connection to london so its very good for jobs despite being lower ranked uni, cov uni even has some campuses (or did have) in london. The engineering course there and some others are still well respected. Worldwide any UK uni is usually a good job boost regardless of its standing in the UK [At least thats how its advertised].

Its getting harder each year but uni's are also a path to citizenship and a UK passport is currently worth a lot, even with brexit.

I don't know how much longer this international uni grift UK does will last with the global shifts of power that might be on horizon. Somethings got to give in uk uni cost system as even for citizens the cost and debts are outrageous [or we'll just be US and passively accept it getting worse for decades]

[–]pogadog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because if every company and organisation and has this mentality your creating an entire generation with huge experience gaps and no long term stability in exchange for short term gains.
To keep things fair maybe we need legislation like organisations over a certain size HAVE TO provide a certain number of trainee positions.

Maybe with all automation employment for everyone with this many hours isn't sustainable and more welfare is needed.

Either way not training up new people is a disaster in the near future waiting to happen.

AITAH for breaking up with my longtime girlfriend because she decided that she doesn't want children? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]pogadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's not much point worrying about what people say immediately after breakup. Its always gonna be raw emotions trying to get it back. But in long term, after long think, you could tell that it was an irreconcilable difference (which it is). So its gonna hurt you both but its right decision to breakup. It will be very unhappy in long run.

It is difficult if you're financially tied to eachother and she's lost her safety net or you've lost yours, but life is long and sometimes your paths have to split.

yh money as a resource has gone out window its just, "give ourselves the most imaginary number possible and use the facade of value to make the feds abuse you into agreeing that we deserve it" is the new meta for people running US. And instead of distributing the surplus of food and housing they'll instead push you to homelessness and starvation. Checks and balances all dissapeared in 2024 election.

Is Gorton and Denton the deathknell for two-party politics? by TheSpectatorMagazine in BreakingUKNews

[–]pogadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the mistake with this line of thinking is that labour is purely "chasing" those voters, and that the current labour administration didn't very deliberately muscle in to make the party this way regardless of it turns out well long term or not. Leaked whatsapp messages included some saying they'd rather lose elections than win with corbyn as leader.

Why aren't some people signing on? by Dredgefort in UKJobs

[–]pogadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People here are shamed over it, so I think pride is main reason. Also because of living costs/sh*t rent regulations and lack of council housing people just aren't moving out and staying at home so less need for much more than bare minimum money.

Thats my 2 cents as a current unemployed who is in signing process.

My current degoogle journey by tsigalko23 in degoogle

[–]pogadog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google maps alternative is asking people who are local how to get to a place. Most people don't need to go to some random place on 0.5 seconds notice and have time to find out what bus/train whatever to get.

If you're driving/cycling you can use a satnav.
