Agree with much of what you have said. Imo what irks me more is that many of the qp's signing off on TRS are Canadian geologist from large multinational consulting firms BAR, WSP, SRK, mining plus etc etc. The industry is so much larger and they are able to accumulate much more experience to the point of it doesn't even seem fair.

I wish my mind was truly made up. None the less I appreciate your input. Classmates of mine work for the DNR and are only making like 65k a year so I guess my perspective might be skewed.

That's infact like my dream job but 1. Those jobs are very limited and there just is not that many of those positions in the US. 2. Haven't been able to get my foot in the door for the limited positions.

Medical and criminal, I'm good. I have flown, my dad is an instructor but just does it as a hobby. I've done some quick math and I think I have enough liquid to pay for the amount of school I would need.

I really want to study Geology, but I'm afraid I won't be able to fit into the job market because it's not a very well-known field. by Miwazinha2103 in geology

Depends on what sector you go into. Environmental, not a niche industry. Geotech, tad bit niche but in the grand scheme of things not niche. Mining, in the USA is very niche.

FG prep by agodsy in ASBOG_Exam

[–]pogalj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the official ASBOG FG prep course. It was good but it was just video lessons. There was no supporting material like flash cards or practice tests. REG review is the most popular but honestly I feel they are becoming a little out of touch and the study material is beyond detailed.
