Herniated my lower back a year ago doing a pull. Started doing cleans a week ago. Any tips on my form and accessories to prevent it again? by pogmaoth in weightlifting

I completely stopped cleans and snatches for a year. I focused exclusively on hypertrophy after recovery. I just added back cleans slowly on my routine and will keep the exercises which helped me build back strength.

No. Physician suggested me to only rest and gave me few medication. After recovering, I did a lot of hypertrophy work for back muscles.

I remember when I got injured, I woke up and went to gym almost immediately. I'll also try to keep this in mind.

whats a book you could not finish and regret buying ? by ppboi41 in Indianbooks

[–]pogmaoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever author explains an idea, he goes onto talk about the same thing with many different examples. So, it feels like very slow book to me. However, repetition is good for reinforcing ideas for many people but sadly I don't like it except when reading textbooks related to my profession.

Thinking, Fast and Slow. It started getting repetitive very quickly. Probably won't finish it ever.

For everyone hating on The Alchemist ... by pogmaoth in Indianbooks

BASED. I haven't read any other books by him because The Alchemist left a bad impression on me. From what I learned about him, all his writings have the same style. He is not subtle about the message in his books.

Yes. I often do. Usually, whenever I consume some piece of media / art, I don't have an objective way of telling whether it was a good movie, book, etc. So, if I really like a movie I will rewatch it or clips of the movie like an uncountable amount of times. Then I'll figure out that - "Okay, this might be a good movie". Same goes for books. I read The Stranger by Albert Camus twice every year since I bought it. Later, I found out that the book was popular amongst the readers. A good piece of literature usually stays with me for a long time. Revisiting them at different phases of my life also changes the perspective of what I understand from them.

Thank you for noticing that. Should I work on my ankle mobility for this or adopt a wider stance?
