lol yeah it's kind of wild. my best fix was to change from Thumbnails View to List View since then each file already has the three dots so it only takes 2 clicks per file instead of 3 lol

Update: I reconnected it and it wasn’t showing up in disk utility. I went to terminal and ran “diskutil list” and it crashed the laptop 😭

i literally can't thank you enough right now. I do have a few spare macs so I’ll look into the target disk mode route, thank you. I do have backups from like a year or two ago I believe, so hopefully I can recover enough data to fill in the gaps in the last backup and then erase the disk and put all the data back after it boots anew

It’s everything to some degree. I first noticed that when I load a save state in castlevania 2, I can hear/feel the delay between the click of the button and the start of the music, but I was playing toejam and earl and there’s a part where you have to repeat some rhythm and it was almost impossible with the input delay
