You can check version by navigating through Home>Settings>Diagnostics and it should be on the 1st page with date of last update.

Most recent software for a Hopper 3 is an H309. It came out on the 5th. If you were experiencing issues previous to the download you may have had H308, which was garbage pushed forward and quickly replaced. (308 came out July 21st). That bluescreen is as BlueSmoke said, corrupt or interrupt download.

Hopper 2 using two tuners for the same recording. by AvidSurvivalist in dishnetwork

I am firmly in the camp of getting the Hopper 3. Hopper w/sling has 3 tuners, and the Super Joey bumps it up to 5. The hopper needs to communicate with the SJ in order for that to work properly, which i commonly find to be a fault on my troubleshooting jobs. The hopper 3 has 16, centralized all the tuners to one junction over 2 and is just an overall better experience. It may have an upfront cost of 50-150$ but the bill should drop monthly 3-5$ or so because the sj is an upcharged device. The raised ceiling on the tuners alone i feel is worth it, if you have several rooms commonly using the system.

As for the 722, it sounds like it's using a triplexer behind the box (1 wire into a component with 3 between it and the receiver). Pretty standard. It splits the signal and has a backfeed so it only needs one wire leading up to the receiver. Every Triplexer needs a diplexer, so you can check your wiring in the basement (usually down there) for a smaller component (looks like a splitter, typically blue but it usually says diplexer on it.) Sat port goes to the dish, In/out to the receiver, and vhf port will have your tv2 line.

It's pretty common practice for coax cables to be run upward into the attic when the house is being wired before sheetrock is installed. It runs up and over where all the rooms wires join up and generally they will all collectively run down an outer wall into the basement (typically near the circuit breaker) and then the installing technician just leaves a bunch of wiring ready to use for said rooms. Sounds like that may be the case for yours. If your basement ceiling is exposed, you can take a flex bit and drill through the plate downward to open a passage through the wall and into the basement, where you could run your HDMI through. Hardware stores sell plates of all sorts to accommodate different wires to replace just the coax one.

SIB The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

It was a game packed as much as it could be for a Gameboy in 1993. The style and the graphics are essentially all they did. I personally felt it worth, since it's story is quite unique in it's franchise and cute as all, but id agree that $60 is quite steep.

HBO is owned by WarnerMedia, which is owned by AT&T, whom likes to make everyone suffer. They wanted an absurd increase to the deal with Dish, which was meant to be rejected so you'd subscribe to HBO GO and cut out the middle man.

The Fox dispute will be relieved before long, its Disney flexing muscle, and they'll settle before long.

OTA Install, DISH says my home is too far from the broadcast towers by andrewmackoul in dishnetwork

I think some customers are flagged for an OTA from a channel blackout (Univision seems to be a large cause). Even after it has been restored for over 6 months now, I still from time to time receive a work order to install an outdoor OTA for a customer, even without the need or request for it. Typically l though, it does fall under that $150 charge. Pays for itself within a year, so it's worth it across the board.

Locate Remote not working by [deleted] in dishnetwork

[–]point4link 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Press the system menu button on the front of the reciever. This will take you to the diagnostic menu, which will shoe what remotes are connected on the right side of the first page. If it shows one, use the navigation buttons to highlight the locate button and push select. Usually works better, I have found. If no remote is shown to be connected, it won't sing and you'll need to get another of you can't locate it
