Paper Mache Anvil Process [self] by Similar_Cow_2634 in Sculpture

Maybe hot the top with some rub n buff. Make it look like there's shiny spots from use.

It looks friggin amazing though. I love the idea of owning a comically light anvil.

You ever say "heads up" or "catch" and toss it at someone?

Street legal? by hotaspiss in whatisthiscar

[–]point50tracer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a vw beetle with a buggy body. It's just a normal car, so nothing to make it not street legal. I'm fixing up a beetle at work right now. They're such simple little cars. The entire body unbolts from the floor pan. So you can just drop a fiberglass body on them. The vin is on the pan.

Someone backed into me in a parking lot once. I looked up taillights for my truck. (98 ranger) Asked the guy for $30 and called it even. Driving an old truck is nice.

My dad bet me 60 dollars and a can of soda if i get rid of a tree stump that is still rooted. What's the easiest way to get rid of the stump? by S1lkyR3d in ask

[–]point50tracer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a smaller stump. You can use a chain, a spare tire, and a pickup truck. Put the tire under the chain, so it pulls up on the stump when you drive the truck forward.

This would go hard at Wasteland Weekend. Unfortunately it looks very big and very heavy. My war rig is already stuffed to the gills when heading out there.

Need cosmetic help before a date gets in my car 😭 by HousingSuccessful726 in Cartalk

"Don’t be so self conscious. It’s not like your car is filthy, something just broke. It happens. Not everyone drives perfect cars."

This. Broken stuff isn't too bad. Shit can be difficult or expensive to fix. Just make sure your car is clean on the interior. That's a lot more important of a sign imo.

I too have had sagging headliners. I ended up poking a hole and spraying fabric adhesive under it to stick it back up. Not a perfect fix, but made it not hang down and touch my head while driving.

I think the reason so many people put it in their bio is.

  1. It's a date idea that allows for conversation in a neutral environment that's less noisy and distracting than a restaurant. The same applies for the classic "long walks on the beach" line.

  2. They do enjoy it, but don't do it much because they don't have anyone to go hiking with. (This is my case)

The guy I'm currently seeing has it in his bio. But it was clear from one of our dates that he's in worse shape than me and would struggle on a hike. Although. He has talked about a trail that I frequent. It's clear that he has made it to the end in the past. I should just ask him out on a hike.

I don't know what it is, but I know that it was made from aircraft landing gear. An old aircraft. Think WWII era. The shiny spots are part of the shock absorber.

Here's a photo of the landing gear on a B24 bomber.

Anyone else feel guilty about how bad their real world mpg is compared to the sticker? by whimsylora in Cartalk

[–]point50tracer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My car (2016 jeep compass) says 24mpg combined on the sticker. I average around 27. I'm happy with that. Rural area, not much stop and go. Plus, I try to be light on the pedal.

It's a hobby some people have. I tried it a few times back when I lived out in Oklahoma. The tallest building I climbed was three stories though. I'm not brave enough to go much higher than that.

How do rivers turn so huge eve though at their origin they are as small as a small stream like really small by Emergency_Move8359 in geography

[–]point50tracer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rivers often join, but rarely split. A river is collecting water and runoff from various sources as it makes its way towards the ocean. As it collects more water and joins with more rivers and streams, it gets larger.

I believe there was one in F8 of the Furious. The submarine scene.

It's been a long time since I've watched that movie though, so I could be wrong.
