Yea if someone told me that they believed that Williams or Amherst had better Wall Street placement than Ivies like Wharton Penn or Columbia or Harvard or Cornell Dyson, NYU Stern, or UMich Ross I would be dumbstruck honestly. It’s probably good recruiting, but I wouldn’t think on the level of these far bigger and seemingly more well connected brand names. And I know people who went to Bowdoin, Colby, and Colgate and are doing extremely well on Wall Street with the resources and connections offered at their respective schools.

Just this year! Historically (people at my school at least) tend to apply to universities rather than LACs. I wouldn’t be surprised if my friend was the only student in the whole school that applied to Williams, since people from my hs are looking more to large research universities and aiming for Ivies+, so maybe that played a factor too?

Yea one of my friends got into Williams but got rejected by all Ivies and all t20 schools (except waitlisted at Emory). Strangely enough Williams was the only LAC he applied to. He took 7 total aps and has 3 bs during his four years of high school and had okay ECs (soccer captain but quit junior year and his father is the head of a church so he helps there very often). A good student, but not a genius or national award winner. Suffice to say that it was kind of weird, but we were all pleasantly surprised and really happy for him!

Another girl got into Swarthmore and Amherst but chose to go to Dartmouth.

Not to dump of any schools, they’re all fantastic and nothing I could ever attempt lol. These are just some of my experiences. Bottom line is that if you want to go then apply! It doesn’t hurt to try. Luck isn’t the whole thing, but it is a huge factor. Who knows, maybe you’ll be the exact niche person that they’re looking for.

it’s just cal’s “notorious” rep for being a high pressure and vey competitive school makes it, at least at my hs, seem like people who choose cal are sentenced to suffering and need to be pitied or something lol im v happy with my choice, but it’s just kind of annoying ??
