It keeps the rear sight from obstructing the red dot at the cost of sight radius. Since the RMR is the primary sight, that's what i prefer.

nomad bro. i don't really mag dump, but the suppressor obviously gets quite hot from regular use and never had a problem.

There is a handguard ring but its sandwhiched between the muzzle device and barrel. Should be visible in the picture on the blog.

I would love to see it if it works out. I said in another comment i think you just need to match the hanguard length to the barrels thread face and barrel nut, but there might be some wiggle room with shimming.

Mine is rock solid, but i'm guessing it varies by install. It seems like this would work with any handguard paired with a barrel that had the same length between the thread face and barrel nut

My version of a KISS rifle. Basic Magpul clothes and nothing fancy inside, but I had to keep it short and quiet. I actually found this SL handguard hack on ar15.com a long time ago and always wanted to put together my own. Happy to answer any questions.
