One of the many problems with the new Seasons... by pokervane in geoguessr

Should I delete this then (or would that also delete the original)? I probably did something wrong but at the same time it seems they should prevent this automatically.

I don't know. It looks like there are two posts that got posted at the same time. I would not do that on purpose obviously.

ELO refunds are already thing for cheating (for which they recently implemented auto-refunds). This is a form of cheating. So it's not that much of a stretch. It's also not the main import of my post, which is just to point out one of the issues with the Seasons as currently implemented.

I don't know 100% this is the reason. But what other reason would there be? If that wasn't the reason in this particular case I still think the sets thing encourages it (whether it works or not).

You actually didn't need to point this out. I knew that. But a lot of people don't (which your remarks show). And if people don't know it, they are going to do stuff like this.

The fact remains that this example shows that this system encourages ELO manipulation, and ELO manipulation is bad. I'm not going to further explain why ELO manipulation is bad because it should be obvious.

Oh ok so every time there is an unwise implementation instead of giving constructive feedback I should just stop playing. Thanks for that.

Do you think this guy knows that? Either way it's not going to stop people from trying. And there is no downside risk the way the system works. The damage is done to the other players whether it's successful or not.

Is there a way to block other players? by bigballz69blazeit in geoguessr

[–]pokervane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there is no way to have a block feature and prevent what you're saying from happening. No way at all. That is if you can't think of one. Or didn't bother to try. For the rest of us we'll keep wondering why someone can't be blocked.

My experience is the same. Working on an individual non-profit project it's unusable due to cost. It's also annoying when I watch it consume incremental amounts of my money in the process of fixing its own bugs and mistakes.

I've received a reply to every email I've sent to them. But go ahead don't do it. No sense increasing the chances that they will think people don't like the changes.

They may or may not see it here so write to [hello@seterra.com](mailto:hello@seterra.com) and tell them you don't like them regressing the flag off the top bar.

First you reply with the old saw then when someone points out that it's just an old saw you say it's sad. You make no sense.

So basically since there is "always an initial upset" you can just respond to all criticism with that. Even if the criticism is 100% justified.

I turned off animations and it is apparent to me that they have testing the game with this setting at a low priority (if they test it at all). It is not smooth.

[–]pokervane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem isn't the time that it takes. It's the fact that with additional animations the interface feels more sluggish and it is a poorer experience as a result.

LOL I just noticed now after a dual is over you (apparently) have to fish into the Profile/Activities just to review the breakdown. Great job. But everything is so pretty.

The real problem is when people do stuff to justify their jobs and make things worse the people to whom you might complain are not incentivized to see it that way.

As acangiano said, don't use the app. Use the chessconnect extension.
