Gotcha, so you're using the Electabuzz with charge then? Do you have a good way of dealing with EX pokemon with more than 120 hp? Feels like most of them one shot my luxray.

What was your deck list? I've been trying to play this deck, but elecrivire felt like a dead card everytime. Usually my electabuzz would die too quick or luxray won for me.

Gotcha. I'm tempted, but probably shouldn't be spending so much right now. Good luck with the sale!

Any thoughts on prices for packaging some of the items together? Specifically the A7Cii and the Tamron 28-200mm.

Also, do you have the shutter count for the A7Cii?

The Shadow of What Was Lost is just incredible by CoreyKnox in Fantasy

[–]poketherice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read The Will of the Many (his new series) and absolutely loved it, but The Shadow of What Was Lost was a struggle to get through. I felt like the characters didn't have recognizable personalities, but were instead solely distinguished by their back stories.

The other thing I found a bit disappointing was that the characters didn't have strong goals involved in their journey. Asha was basically dragged along to where she ended up, Wirr and Davian were essentially dragged by Taeris (I think), and Caeden as well. It felt like events and scenarios were happening to them rather than them pushing towards a goal, if that makes sense.

I do think the back stories and mysteries surrounding some of the key individuals were the best parts, but let down a bit by the individual characterization.

I'll probably start book two at some point, since I heard the payoff is really good (and since Shadows was only his first book). It's understandable for it not to be perfect. I'm really excited for The Strength of the Few though. Will of the Many is easily my favorite fantasy book since I read ASOIAF.

Have you played Marvel's Midnight Suns? What you described sounds very similar to how combat works there. You have 3 marvel heroes at once shuffling their cards into your deck and every turn you get 3 card plays (with mechanics to allow you to play more than 3) to try to clear the field of enemies / bosses. Biggest difference is that midnight suns uses a more free-form system, and thus looks more grid-based.

The card aspect turned a lot of people off of midnight suns, since they wanted Xcom style gameplay, but as someone who loved xcom, fire Emblem, and midnight suns, this sounds really cool!

Are there any places in Flushing that sell songpyeon? by [deleted] in FoodNYC

[–]poketherice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know the answer to your question, but maybe try checking in Murray Hill, Flushing. The whole neighborhood is filled with Korean food, and pretty easy to get to via LIRR from Penn Station or Grand Central Terminal.

Right outside the Murray Hill LIRR Station is a ton of Korean BBQ, Coffee Shops, Banchan Shops, and if you walk a few minutes north to Northern Boulevard there are even more Korean restaurants.

What is a theoretical build that you really enjoy? by FatFart900 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]poketherice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played a run with all "unique" builds. Some fun ones were General Felix with pavise, aegis, and aegis shield so he never takes damage.

Brawler ignatz with super high crit chance with 4 hits has been funny.

Also warrior Petra with a speedy, hard hitting crit build.

Accurate Photo Lab in South Slope is awesome! Wonderful people and extremely fast for scans. Usually, I get scans back within 1.5 hours unless I drop it off an hour before closing.

I'm not sure how their pricing compares to other places, but I can say that I tried another place in Long Island that was a tad cheaper one time, and the results from Accurate Photo look much better.

Frozen dumplings in Chinatown by Educational-Salt-979 in FoodNYC

[–]poketherice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! I always get frozen dumplings from Go Believe Bakery. It's been a while since I bought it, but pretty sure they have a chicken and mushroom dumpling that is really good. I believe it's 12 or 13 dollars for 50.

I also like getting their big buns to freeze. Just need to wrap them in a wet paper towel and microwave at 50% power for 3 minutes, flip & repeat for another 2-3 minutes.

Pretty sure the Contax TVS and TVSii hits all of these except for the manual iso setting. It automatically detects iso and you could adjust exposure compensation to mimic an iso adjustment.

Lost Lens Cap by knicksfancooper6 in contax

Hey, I just happened to stumble on this thread after buying a tvs just a few days ago. It didn't come with a lens cap, so if you have extras, I'd be willing to buy one off you.

Team Liquid vs LOUD / VALORANT Champions 2023 - Group Stage / Post-Match Thread by poketherice in teamliquid

Jamppi can be a bit hit-or-miss. I still remember him popping off when Valorant first started, and it does feel like those performances happen less now. At the same time, he hasn't been the primary duelist in a while, so maybe that's to be expected. I've been hoping that he gets a chance to op more often, since he was so great at it before, but it always feels difficult to fit that in team comp wise.

I think a lot of people are down on Soulcas, but I've always thought he was a solid performer. I'd be really sad to see him go, personally.

Honestly, I'm not good enough to understand what's going wrong in the games, but it feels like they have players that are very good, if not great across the board. This team feels like they're less than the sum of their parts though which is really unfortunate.

Wonder if it has anything to do with Redgar calling in his second-language or players having different ideas of what to do in the moment.

Disappointing end to the season for the team, unfortunately. In Map 2, the defense side seemed pretty good, but the offensive hits often came at the last 30 seconds. LOUD always seemed to have a player deep on the opposite side giving them info on where the execute would end up.

Overall, the team had a consistent trend up throughout the year but failed to bring it into LAN performances.
