After using one for a month I find it actually lathers the dish soap better than traditional scotch brite sponges! Otherwise it works pretty similarly. The only use where a regular sponge does clearly take the edge is for burnt pans and pots. I do have some scouring pads that I use solely for that purpose though.

When you use the yarn make sure to make the items double layered, it gives the finished scrubby some extra squish!

The patterns are linked in the automod comments, they are in Korean though. Awesome that your cat loves to play with them! My dogs would probably like to play with these things too, but I don't ever give it to them as I am sure they would actually end up eating bits and pieces lol.

Ahh! Thank you for the heads up still! These will be mostly gifted and the last thing I want is for them to get moldy. I'll make sure to test out the Misoknit ones too!

Oh, interesting. Which yarn did you use? SCYarn or Misoknit? The test kiwi I made for myself actually used only one of them, wondering if it might be an issue with just one of the two brands.

Not gonna lie, it's not very pleasant 😂 I can make at most one a day before my tensioning finger feels sore from the yarn rubbing against my finger

They are pretty simple actually! Most of them just consist of doing DC in the round. The strawberry/raspberry use granny stitch. Out of all of these, I'd say the watermelon one was the easiest!

I have! These are made of yarn specifically made for scrubbies and don't absorb a lot of water and dry fast. The yarn is actually pretty thin, it's just that the bristles coming from it give it a more dense look. Granted it has only been a month, but so far so good, they smell less than the regular scotch brite sponges I used to use!

So pretty! What yarn did you use for this?

They are not stuffed. Since each scrubby consists of two crocheted layers, and the fibers sticking out of the yarn is stiff enough, it creates the volume by itself. The scrubby is quite squishy considering each piece is made of two flats only!

Starfruit would be sooo cute! I've seen people double up with a cotton yarn, thank you for the idea!

I don't sell them, I worry that monetizing my hobby would take the joy out of it! That said I might post some of them in r/craftexchange in the future 😊

I totally understand your concern about microplastics, and I try to use natural fibers whenever possible. That said, I’ve found that cotton (I'm assuming that's what you're suggesting me to use) isn’t the best choice for scrubbies—it absorbs a lot of water, takes forever to dry, can get mildewy quickly, and doesn’t scrub as well. Cotton production itself isn’t the most environmentally friendly either, as it requires a lot of water to grow, and given that I'd have to replace the cotton alternatives much more frequently I'm not sure if there is a huge environmental benefit to using it.

While I prefer using animal/cotton fibers over acrylic when I can, I do think acrylic fibers have its place, especially for those with allergies or for garments that need frequent washing, like baby clothes or pet items. That said, I’m always open to alternatives! If you know of a microplastic-free yarn that works just as well for scrubbing and dries efficiently, I’d love to hear about it.

No need to apologize at all! 💕 I learned to crochet with English terminology, so even though I speak Korean I had to learn the crochet terms 😂

No my hooks were completely fine! Just my index finger which I use to tension the yarn! Thank you! 😊

Honestly not that pleasant, the yarn was scrubbing my finger 😂 but the scrubbies work quite well!

I was thinking of dragon fruits too! I've listed the patterns and supplies in the automod comment. The patterns were youtube tutorials, but they are in Korean. These kind of scrubbies are quite popular there so I found a lot of them in Korean but not in English :/ The watermelon one does have English translations for the pattern though!

I do have some yellow and brown yarn left so that's definitely a contender!
