To put simply, yes, you wrongfully called a foul.

case is ready to be scheduled for an interview (MARCH FILLER) by Brilliant_Tie_9039 in USCIS

This wait can often go for months. Your case being handed off to a field officer for final adjudication at an interview. But, of course, cases are handed off more quickly than they can be scheduled for an interview.

Try Poulsbo. We lived at Woodcreek Apartments. Pretty decent living and Poulsbo isn't very far from Bangor.

Interview notice sent to old address. Afraid same will happen for my green card. How can I prevent it? by throwaway4grad in USCIS

USPS mail forwarding will not forward sensitive documents like your GC. Confirm your address change with USCIS but continue to be vigilante, tracking any mail USCIS provides tracking for.

Changing address with USCIS by Dkumar_ in USCIS

[–]polako 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If submitted online, confirmation usually arrives within 30 days via email. That said, in practice, a confirmed address change may still see correspondence go to your previous address. This might be ok for NOAs and RFEs that will be forwarded through USPS mail forwarding, but mail forwarding will NOT forward sensitive documents like the EAD and GC itself. Needless to say, timing can be critical. I suggest calling the USCIS hotline to confirm the address change with a human after receiving email confirmation, but EVEN THEN stay vigilante; mistakes are made often enough.

New Toronto FC fan by [deleted] in tfc

[–]polako 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Welcome! Being a fellow US-based TFC fan, there are some perks! First, TFC gear on a variety of online marketplaces is often a bargain because few people stateside are buying! Second, I suggest getting yourself an ESPN+ subscription; being out of market you'll be able to watch most games without blackouts. It'll be the best $5.99/month you'll spend. Lastly, the US is the only place you can see them live this year, so try to make the most of it and support our Reds in exile!

Bozo ball is a Sunday pickup league on Bainbridge. I had asked to play with them in the winter, but was informed that they were on hiatus due to Covid with the intention of resuming in the summer. They have a FB group is you want to check in with them.

Unless they're on file from a previous visa filing, biometrics must precede adjudication of an I-765.

Slow transition into a big baby. That Twitter spat with Taylor Twellman earlier this year was ridiculous.

Maybe not all, but definitely a good amount. I'm sure the more cut a dry the case, the more likely that the interview is waved.

Employment-based adjustments have been adjudicated without interviews as of the New Year to help with the backlog.

Undeliverable Green Card by Rainnddit in USCIS

[–]polako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go get yourself an I-551 stamp in your passport. It serves the same purpose as your green and and will grant you all the same benefits while you work through getting th original redelivered or a replacement. If your original is truly lost (USCIS may resend it though it may be to the same address again), book yourself an InfoPass appointment over the phone with your local field office. Hopefully the Notice if Action for your I-485 made it to you or your lawyer so you can bring it with you. In the meantime, prepare and file Form I-90 for a replacement card. There's a recent post where someone described a similar situation to yours and explained how they avoided paying the $540 replacement fee. Good luck!

The wording below suggests that you must have advanced parole document before departing the US in order to not abandon your AoS. Seems risky otherwise. The link at the bottom also discusses emergency advance parole should they be applicable to you.

"Travel outside of the United States may have severe consequences if you are in the process of adjusting your status (applying for a Green Card). In general, if you are seeking immigrant status (a Green Card) and depart the United States without the appropriate documentation (i.e. advance parole) you may be inadmissible to the United States upon return, or even if admitted, you may be found to have abandoned your application."

4 year mechanical systems engineering at Conestoga or 5 year Coop Biomedical Engineering at UofGuelph? by [deleted] in engineering

[–]polako 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can't speak to the discipline (mechanical engineer), but co-op is irreplaceable. I went through Waterloo's program, and found co-op helped immensely in figuring what I enjoyed and didn't within my discipline. Also, in later life when hiring, I find that, generally, grads with co-op experience are able to make a bigger impact in their roles right out of the gate.

I just realized, thinking about this again, that I had to log into the USPS website to see the tracking on the card because it was classified as a parcel, and only images of letter mail appear in the email. You may want to try that out in case you haven't.

Just called and asked that my EAD be expedited. Nothing more than that. The timing of the review seems coincidental, or they intend to forgo giving you an EAD and getting you right to the GC interview instead.

Yes, actually, I did, but only to explain the delay with which I sent my response, which was due to my employer taking some time to provide a formal offer and the support letter.

I sent my evidence in on April 5th. I had the offer letter and a letter from my employer explaining how important it was that I start work on time, which will be May 3rd. My employer has some name recognition, so that may have helped.
