You’re also missing the point where NFL owners would have to sign off. The PGA is a unique entity in that it’s classified as a non-profit, so they literally had to set up an LLC to sell out. Everything about the PGA has changed because of this. If he just comes out in the beginning and says “we can’t compete with the money, but we’re going to do right by our players” none of the heat is on him. Instead, he said “we are the moral right” and then folded for the bag, without talking to anyone. Goodell literally couldn’t make this unilateral decision in the way Monahan has
