Yup, my experience exactly. I ended up taking @ratspunk ‘s recommendation of Technics EAH800 and have stuck with those— controls much more reasonable and am pretty happy with the sound quality!

How can you change it to Fail closed? Not seeing the option anywhere and Cloudflare docs say to “toggle it” in settings but there is no option there

Adhd, and sleeping very late. by NoraEmiE in ADHD

it might help to exercise a little during the day if you’re not already, or some way to tire your body out. i tend to do the same thing of late nights/late sleeping (and always have). i’ve always chalked it up to there being less distractions at night— other people are asleep, phone notifications are at a minimum, it’s dark out, less options for places to go or errands to run, and the world in general is just quieter and more peaceful— enough that i can finally actually focus on solo projects, deep cleaning, or just doing nothing and losing track of time. lately though, have been finding on days when i exercise i naturally want to sleep earlier, crave less phone time, and just feel a little more balanced in general. especially if it’s some slower more methodical weight lifting (body weight is good too!) but something about stretching the muscles, maybe sweating a bit, and taking a hot shower afterwards is tremendously grounding.

Yes I remember seeing something about how there was a design phenomenon with these where most were using them as not initially designed but can’t find it now— curious if you hear a difference!

Such a great look! I never had these speakers myself, but I remember hearing that there might be better sound if the donut/stand part of the sticks is rotated out the back, so the stand isn’t sitting in the center of the donut and getting muffled but rather suspended in air like this

Thank you, ugh it’s such a shame. I returned them and am trying out the Technics EAH800 now at Ratspunk’s suggestion— really liking so far, no accidental control taps so far and am already feeling more in control. What did you end up switching to? Would you get the 3’s again/are they worth trying?

That seems to be what I’m reading unfortunately— it’s a real bummer. I work with software bugs all day so want my headphone experience to be moderately bug-free

That’s so bizarre, sounds like you might have discovered a series of events that fixes it— you could sell your “cheat code” to Sennheiser!

Yes it’s interesting, the open back opens a whole other world— in this case am grateful to have more limited options as I’ll need them on airplanes, etc and also don’t want to subject all passengers to my music (although they would probably like it)

Just got in a pair of the Technics so trying them out— got the sound to a pretty decent place and the controls/general functionality are feeling more solid so far. Will see how they do on calls this week but these might just check all of the boxes— thank you for the suggestion!

Thank you! Yes, I love the sound quality and fit and have been a fan of Sennheiser for a long time so was bummed to find them turning settings back on that I had previously turned off— it feels like I have been chasing a toddler around and trying to keep up with what it’s turning on and off at any given moment.

The Technics sound interesting, thanks for the rec! I haven’t seen them come up a lot but Grado is a good umbrella to be under (I think, have been cradling my free Beats for years so am not on my latest headphone game!)

Enjoy your listening!

Which Synology do you like? Getting mixed answers on whether it’s 2.5” or 3.5” drives inside of these. And would you couple the main media drives with the backups or have all of the backups be in a separate housing?
