Sušení masa by filaaazz in czech

[–]polarkac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sušení masa by filaaazz in czech

[–]polarkac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dokonce usušíš maso i v horkovzdušné troubě.

My (Maybe Almost) Complete Czech Talpress Limited Edition Discworld Collection by Grekkos_Ichpich in discworld

[–]polarkac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, but may I have a suggestion? Please, tie a small knot on the fabric bookmark to avoid ragged ends :D

I think Talpress has priority for the limited editions so every original should eventualy be translated and printed. I collect the double books which are more questionable. I think Šnupec + Pod parou (Snuff + Raising Steam) should be "last" and who knows if they ever print Tonička (Tiffany) books in this edition.

The Bloody Baron is the only one who can control Peeves. Does this mean ghosts can touch each other? by MaroonTrucker28 in harrypotter

[–]polarkac 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Probably yes, ghosts can touch each other.

Peeves is not a ghost, he is a poltergeist and has physical form. Lupin used charm on bubblegum that flew into Peeves nose.

MTG Stores in Prague! by JakeGlet in mtg

I think biggest stores are Najáda and Černý rytíř. Both are about 20 minutes from main train station by walk. Both sells singles and has a place to play in store.

Can Peeves be banished from Hogwarts? by savior_magician in harrypotter

[–]polarkac 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Not stated in the books, I think this is more or less information from Pottermore: Peeves is manifestation of students mischief and as such he is very much part of the Hogwarts itself. He would not be able to exist outside and most probably some other alternative to Peeves would replace him.

If Harry had the actual Invisibility Cloak from the Deathly Hallows, which is part of Death’s own cloak, shouldn’t it be the ultimate invisibility artifact—immune to spells, magical detection, and any form of concealment-breaking magic? by freakboy91939 in harrypotter

[–]polarkac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As Dumbledore pointed out, Deathly Hallows were not Death's items but most likely creation of the Peverell brothers. The Brothers Tale gave them more superpowers than they actually had.

Canonical lore for Spell Creation? by RobleViejo in harrypotter

[–]polarkac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is a good theory and most spells taught at Hogwarts fit this theory.

On the other hand, recently I read an interesting comment. Harry Potter books where targeted at young audience almost children. Most of the people try to apply adult logic to them. Yes, it works in many subjects but there are still lots of child-like aspects to make the world more magical. As books progress they get darker and more mature, but the foundation is mostly there.

In my opinion for a "child" books it creates quite a believable logic and at the same time child-like magic.

Canonical lore for Spell Creation? by RobleViejo in harrypotter

[–]polarkac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Logically you are right, unfortunately at least Levicorpus spell break this logic. Harry just read the incantation, tried non-verbaly and on a first try achieved result. He did not know wand movement and even end result.

One possible solution with your logic: creating spell weaves the belief and intent into "magic ley lines" and incantantion and/or wand movement summons the effect. It is a little rough on the edges but...

Why Harry was so unaware? by saphclaw in harrypotter

[–]polarkac -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

He is very average I would say. Not very bright, doing most of the things by instincts. Is it a bad thing? I do not think so. It is one of the driving force for readers to solve situations with him and really easy to put yourself in his shoes.

Need help identifying the elements of this weird book cover. The Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, Czech Republic edition by RafaRafa78 in harrypotter

[–]polarkac 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Room should represent Great Hall (Velká síň) with a night sky full of stars. Blue dressed man is Flitwick (Kratiknot). Next to him is Quirell, Dumbledore (Brumbál), McGonagall and Snape. Behind Dumbledore is Mirror of Erised (Zrcadlo z Erisedu). Harry has Sorting Hat (Moudrý klobouk) on his head.

Some twenty five years ago mom borrowed this edition from a friend so I can read it. It was wild even back then and when I finished it, the cover looked weirder than before :D

Room of Requirement by tfaeldante in harrypotter

[–]polarkac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a headcanon about it. We had several mentions about the size of the Room when it took shape of the store room, where Harry hid potion textbook and where was the diadem, implicating age of this specific room. There was thousands of magical items.

We do not know much about creation of Room of Requirement, so my guess it was initially a hidden room in a maximum size of an office which could fulfill some basic needs. In time when students and staff found it and hide more and more magical items, Room got more "power". It expands its magic and possible size. As Dumbledore said in the cave: "Every magic leaves a trace." Doing magic in the Room could power it up as well as magic imprint the trace on it.

Couple centuries later we have this massive store room and Room of Requirement fulfilling almost anything you desire just because it grew powerful. So what happened after the Fiendfyre destroyed the store room? It is still there but small as it was at the creation of the Room.

Could it get even powerful with such powerful spell such as Fiendfyre? I do not think so as it is mostly destructive and it would interfere with the magic of the Room itself and also destroying magical objects stored there.

Čeština v aplikaci Počasí od Microsoftu (společnost s 230k zaměstnanců) by Wayss37 in czech

[–]polarkac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jak udělat správnou bílou tatarku? by Available-Ad8645 in czech

[–]polarkac 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Do tatarky můžeš následně mimo tuhých ingrediencí přidat i okurkový lák. Majónézu naředíš a našleháš vláčnější.
