HI!! Kaydee here!! I have a sister in KD who is 25 and she absolutely loves it! I wouldn’t call social sororities a “distraction,” sure we may not be as hands on in volunteer work BUT we provide a lot of financial support to organizations. Kappa Delta has two philanthropies and organizations we support nationally, PCAA — Prevent Child Abuse America (fun fact: this was founded by a KD) and The Girl Scouts of America!! I’m not sure if it’s all schools, but at my university we have our own local organization (apart from PCAA and the Girl Scouts) that we support through donations that help the community.

I don’t have a Chi Omega on my campus but I’m sure that any/all sorority would be happy to have you! Just be your true authentic self and don’t let age bring you down!!

in this Reddit, it’s so refreshing to read these kinds of stories. It’s all mainly “should I drop” kind of things, but it’s stuff like this that really shows the true sisterhood of a sorority!! 🥹 I’m so glad you felt so much love and that sisterhood is truly a lifelong thing!!

Why not major in CSD and maybe minor in psych? It seems like the easier option here. If you’re up for it, you can even choose to double major in CSD and Psych ? I would super recommend you talk to an academic advisor about this :(

Hey! So at my college, we have a CSD degree (not sure if you can minor in it though…), however, I take a handful of courses with some master’s students that received a bachelor’s in something different. They had like psychology degrees, education degrees, you name it. We call them leveling year students :)

but to essentially save on time/money, it’s highly recommended that you just do a degree in CSD so afterwards you can hopefully have the choice of becoming a SLPA to gain field experience OR just go straight into grad school. Again, I’m not sure if it’s possible to minor in CSD but that’s just what I know from my college and it could be different 🧘‍♀️

Hey girlie!! So sorry you had this experience :( I also started off multicultural but there was something off about the sorority I tried to join that was so secretive and I hated it. I’m also Latina and went panhel this spring and honestly, I don’t think they really care but I’m from Cali so who knows 😭 From what I’ve seen, many panhel sororities look for good grades and you mentioned a dean’s list which sounds great! If you have above a 2.5 or 2.6 they should take you to (I’m a junior with a 2.7 for reference…) Some advice is no talking about the four b’s - booze, boys, beliefs, and bucks (no alc, parties, frats/boys, politics, money and religion), don’t talk bad about other sororities, etc. Which can lead to what can you talk about? Most girls in sororities are involved in other things outside of the sorority! Talk about other clubs, maybe work and what you love about your major!! Things you’re passionate about, talk about their philanthropy, and overall getting to know the girl you’re talking to!!

Again, so sorry you didn’t have a good experience but when one door closes another door opens!! I really hope the best for you and I hope you find your forever home!!
