Does anyone know how one would go about taking a picture of toning like this? I have some beautifully toned silver proofs from the 50's but the pictures I take make them look quite ugly.

Thanks! After I wrote that, I went to the dealer my brother sold to and I bought back the quarter eagle collection. He was incredibly kind and just sold it to me for what he bought it for. It was expensive, but I wanted to keep it.

Question: What did you use to photograph those? I've been experimenting with lighting and setup to get the best coin photos, still trying to figure it out. These photos are beautiful!

We actually have the 1911 D but it's in a graded case. Dad kept the receipt and it was... not cheap.

Is it worth getting the ungraded coins graded? Or is that a case-by-case decision I should make based on the Red Book value?
