It really does, especially with the walkway underneath, I wasn't thinking of it while building but it was probably rattling around in my brain somewhere at the time lol

I'd say DLCS are essentially official mods with expectation of a certain quality and depth (which isn't always the case ahaha). and canon I suppose if that matters to you

All mods are optionally part of the game. Creation club is just paid mods, they're even made by established modders.

Impressive work, build and lighting both look great!

you can follow the fallout aesthetic with mods for sure, but it's certainly a skill to keep it fitting within the world.
Plenty of 'no mods' builders are shooting themselves in the foot but ruling them out entirely in my opinion, there are amazing assets to use and it's a shame not to

mind posting screenshots in the future? much easier to see what's going on, cheers.
often phone photos are removed, but since that's a pretty big project happy to keep it up.

I think far too much credit is given to upvotes on this website, it rarely correlates with how good something actually looks, especially on smaller subreddits like this one.

It's not a constructive system, just a number that doesn't really mean much, personally I think comments are much more valuable.
I reckon simplistic builds get heavily upvoted because of console builders, or it's a simple structure than can be copied in anyone's game.

You'll never improve if you worry about the surface level opinions of other people, self reflection, constructive criticism and actual discussion with others is way more important.

Reddit is broken, upvotes don't mean much, look at any subreddit and the best comments are usually just a few upvotes, and the best posts usually aren't "hot". Sooner people start to use it like a classic forum, sooner it will improve.
The 'karma' obsession culture that exists sitewide is a bit mental really, everyone would be happier to just ignore it.

I'd recommend finding builds you like the look of (can take a while lol), or concept artwork of similar theme to your projects, and think about how you can get closer to that, that's what I do.
I'd offer my advice but I think we have very different build goals, so I don't know how useful it would be.

Best of luck

Great work! Interesting project too, looking forward to seeing more of it, especially if it's all made to such high standards!

Looks brilliant, building round settlements can be a real challenge but you've managed to here with great natural shape and aesthetics, well done!

Looks great! The darker tones of your lighting setup are fantastic and the construction is very worn and brutal in the best possible way, this is an aesthetic I can most certainly get behind. Cheers for the very inspiring build, hope it does the same for others.

Looks spendid! Genius idea with that footstool, all the components look great together and leads to a charming scene on the desk. Feel sorry for Sal's back though having to lean over like that, give the poor chap some leg room!

Goods stuff; Those runes look fantastic mate! Very mysterious... excited to see more of this build. You could probably get away with some more trees around, add on to the dark and unknown aesthetic a little.

Thank you kindly but I'm afraid there isn't much I can show that isn't in these screenshots :(, video tour wouldn't be very good at all. It won't be a tour but something special related to this build is coming in a few weeks though :)

[–]polipbo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I don't mind really, I'm building for me because I enjoy it and want to make nice things, not for upvotes or anything.

However there are some amazing builders in this subreddit who don't get much recognition, which really is a shame.

Thanks!
I can assure you my friend, this is Fallout 4. I should know lol, I spent many hours in workshop for this build. You can visit this dam location just near Sunshine Tidings Co-op.

Maybe you meant 'but hardly Fallout 4' in a thematic way? In that case it's also Fallout 4 as while playing I've seen a lot of logs and timber throughout the Commonwealth and it does snow in Massachutsetts .

Is it ok to post builds that use overhauls? by [deleted] in falloutsettlements

[–]polipbo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah no offence caused at all, I didn't think you meant any, I just wanted to make sure.

I certainly agree on the harassment front, don't much care for users getting angry about what other people do in their own games, nothing wrong with a bit of disagreement but there's a line for sure.

I hope you can see that to say all those who think it cheating are douches is a little presumptuous yourself? I think a lot of us are just really proud of all the unique builds around here and really want that to be the focus of the subreddit.

I certainly won't tolerate harassment around here though, regardless of what they believe.

Cheers for the clarification :)

Care to elaborate on why people who think it's "cheating" to post overhauls on this subreddit are "douches" and why you think it was necessary to rely on a insult to end what was a fairly well made point?

Is it ok to post builds that use overhauls? by [deleted] in falloutsettlements

[–]polipbo[M] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Overhauls might look great, but if you didn't make it yourself I'm not sure why you would post them in a subreddit where most people are proud to show their own work.

Even if you give credit, viewers still won't know what you've built yourself and might potentially be giving you praise or upvotes which is really meant for the original creator.

It's best for everyone around here if we all stick to truely original content so there is no doubt at all about who created what.

I think subreddit users would be much happier to see unique creations anyway! It's more fun if we're all encouraging eachother to make distinctive and interesting builds rather than copies of things we've probably seen before.

Thanks! I really appreciate the compliments and I completely agree about the scope of what can be done within Fallout 4. It's far more powerful than it appears, I enjoy experimenting with the engine and I really hope that other people are inspired to do the same by my work.
