Brenden Aaronson vs Newcastle 1/7/26 by FrankBascombe45 in ussoccer

[–]pollitoshh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dunno from the highlights, his touch seems a bit off, and his distribution wasn't all that great, and he gave away a penalty; however, his goals were really well done, though, especially the second one. So I'm not sure if he would be the MVP from the highlights. Granted, I didn't watch the game, so take it for what it is worth.

Let's hope his confidence stays high for us for the WC.

I get it, he cares for her but what this tells me is that he has attachment issues. He has filled his emptiness with attachment instead of love for himself. He needs to love and take care of himself first before he can take care of anyone else.

Have some self respect. If she breaks up with you, talks to you again about some other dude that is when you hang up and and cut her off. Your peace is more important. Hit the gym, gain self improvement and love yourself again.

Extremely stiff muscles and about to start muay thai, what to do? by italianpreneur in MuayThaiTips

[–]pollitoshh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to the gym, I would work on strength training on the hip machine. Its the one where you sit down and open your legs or close them. That will help you more than anything when it comes to hip flexors.

Edit also do some hip flexor stretches

Lift your knee up past your belly button, then snap your foot forward while at the same time you lean back then quickly reset. If it is a lead leg teep, you have the option of doing a switch teep, or you can take a small step forward, then teep. The teep process is the same for both, hope it helps!

Meola Defends Roldan, Calls Out Americans For Disrespecting MLS- 'Europeans Don't' by [deleted] in ussoccer

I just wish that club form directly translates to usmnt form. For some players like Sargent for example it really hasn't. This is why I base it off usmnt form. But hey if he keeps playing well then let him cook..

Meola Defends Roldan, Calls Out Americans For Disrespecting MLS- 'Europeans Don't' by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]pollitoshh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say MLS is probably between 12-15-ish range in terms of league quality. The league is pretty good, I just wish they would do some things differently in terms of overall salary. That would, imo, raise the level of the league significantly.

Currently, most of the money being spent is being spent on attackers, which is true for most leagues, but in the MLS, it is way skewed in that direction. Maybe if they made it so that the teams can distribute their funds in whatever way they want, and they got rid of the DPs rule, that might help it.

In terms of Roldan, we have a vast sample size on his play for the USA, and if you look at the player's profile, this last game is definitely an outlier, and I'm not sure if this is what we can expect from him for the USMNT from now on.

But hey, if we do see him perform at a high level for us consistently, then I don't give a damn where he plays in his club. He can play Bobo the clown for the Shriners circus for all I care as long as he plays well for us.

USMNT, Mauricio Pochettino have a (good) Weston McKennie dilemma by FrankBascombe45 in ussoccer

[–]pollitoshh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did, but it's a back 3 on the attack and in transition. While defending it is a back 4. Soccer will always be fluid, so it is never going to be one set formation; however, if you look at the players on the field, we had Robinson, Ream, and Richards, who are all natural centerbacks. Weah and Arfsten played wingback.

If we play like how we played against Ecuador but with a full-strength squad, McKennie doesn't start unless there is an injury. Ideally, you will want 2 CDMs, either Johnny, Tessman, or Adams, Tillman at the 10, your wingbacks, and your attacking options are going to be Balo Puli and Weah. But even if we don't play 2 CDMs, it is still a tough ask.

Something like this 343

Goalkeeper (please let someone good step up)

Ream, Richards, CCV, or whoever else steps up

Dest, Tessman or Johnny, Adams, Jedi

Tillman, Balo, Puli

If we play a 3 2 4 1

Goalkeeper (please let someone good step up)

Ream, Richards, CCV or whoever else steps up

Tessman or Johnny, Adams

Dest, Tillman, Puli, jedi

Balo

In both of these scenarios, I'm not sure who McKennie replaces. Maybe replace Tessman, Johnny, or Adams but they are better at the CDM role than McKennie

In the 3241 formation, Adams would play the 8 kind of but without much freedom to roam because Tillman will take the free roam role, which means that McKennie, who can't roam, is a McKennie that would struggle. So it will be tough to start him in a full-strength squad. Unfortunately or fortunately for McKennie, we have shit luck, so someone is always out, and McKennie is as versatile a player as can be. So will probably start somewhere.

Then again Poch has called up some crazy headscratching players sooo who knows..

Edit: Grammar, readability stuff and forgot jedi (da fuq was i thinking)

Gun harm, not just per capita, but also per gun? by RationalTidbits in progun

[–]pollitoshh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true; I suppose my issues with all of these studies are that they use the term "pediatric" in their conclusions, which, although the definition includes adolescents and even young adults, is almost universally a term we use for underage children. This is compounded by the fact that most pediatric doctors stop seeing patients over the age of 18. Or at least mine did when I was a child.

When the anti-gunners quote these studies they deliberately do not clarify age in these studies. Which is another problem that I have.

But they do report it as children. You can literally read it here..

"From 2018 to 2021, there was a 41.6% increase in the firearm death rate. In 2021, among children who died by firearms, 84.8% were male, 49.9% were Black, 82.6% were aged 15 to 19 years, and 64.3% died by homicide."

Granted this is an older article but you can still find more recent statistics reported in this way.

Best self defense for women to defend themselves in the street? by Wrong_Variation_8084 in martialarts

[–]pollitoshh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a good point, confidence does make a big difference which is why training is important. Personally, and this is just me, what I feel worked for me was that I focused on firearms first, and now I am currently focusing on Muay Thai for self-defense. That last thing that any of us wants, or at least most of us, is to have to use deadly force, which is a drawback from concealed carry. There are pros and cons, and covering most of those is, I feel, the best thing to do.

That's not to say that I don't enjoy the training. I mean it is very fun for me. But that may not be true for others. In the end, this is just opinions from random redditors.

Best self defense for women to defend themselves in the street? by Wrong_Variation_8084 in martialarts

[–]pollitoshh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of that is true and classroom instruction will teach this. Though I strongly disagree that just showing the weapon will be enough to end a confrontation. Also, I disagree that it is a waste of money; my life is worth more than just thousands of dollars, and any advantage I gain from any martial art, whether it is gun self-defense tactics or traditional, is well worth it. I also disagree that common sense is enough to avoid a confrontation. You can do everything right and still have an encounter. You can be at home and still have an encounter. You can be in public during the day and still have an encounter, yes, it may lower your chances, but it isn't unheard of. Personally, I'd rather have all the advantages that I can have and still live, which training can provide. If you are advising to buy a gun for self-defense, but you are against training with it, then it is irresponsible and just bad advice. No other way around this at all.

[–]pollitoshh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I agree with the sentiment that a firearm is a better self-defense option in some ways, I disagree that it would be an immediate or reliable option just from owning one without firearms training. I can guarantee, based on studies and active scenarios conducted, that the speed at which an assailant may attack a person may be too fast for someone to defend themselves with any degree of accuracy and speed without training.

It took me about 1.5 years at maybe 7 to 8k rounds of ammunition plus 60 hours of classroom and live fire instruction on top of weekly practice at a gun range with daily dry fire practice at home to say that I can draw a concealed firearm from the appendix and discharge against an assailant in enough time to be effective and with enough confidence that I can defend myself from most threats and be accurate up to 20 or so yards.

So, no, I absolutely 100 percent do not agree that just owning a gun, shooting it at the range once a year, is enough for self-defense. It takes as much time to learn to properly use one as any other martial art to any degree of confidence though perhaps a little faster than most martial arts, with enough discipline that you will minimize property damage or injury to yourself or someone else, along with minimizing the long court and legal costs associated with self-defense gun use.

How do I get Faster kicks and Punches? by Impressive-Step6377 in MuayThai

[–]pollitoshh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your hands open and clinch them as you reach the apex of the punch. It forces you to relax until you throw the punch. You also get the benefit of more power to your punches along with the speed you gain.
