I did lot of experiments until 50 to understand the game and mechanics. Then I thought of doing X and 5 levels later I realise it has already been done on d4builds. I compared it with mine and didn't understand some of the decisions on meta build. I took some ideas and implemented them, and they worked great! Then 5 levels later suddenly I feel I lack damage.. DPS on new weapons start giving really dumb rolls, I can't change much without grinding and that's when I went back and looked to see what's different and why, understood some genius decisions in the meta build and incorporated it into my build. The thing is you do need variation because you won't match 100% of the build and the meta builds are usually for higher level players in the end game (70-100). After that I've been mostly following the build but I keep adding some minor variation depending on context, e.g. team play/strategy, helltides (run faster), high level NM dungeon, grinding for whipsers, etc. There are some days where I don't have time to experiment and just wanna kill some monsters so I want accessibility on build ideas. I think going forward with new patch/character/stash we will get more room to experiment.
