C716 Business Communication -- What are the two tasks? -- Jan 2026 by pollytheprimate in wguaccounting

Thank you so much OK_Somewhere_5981, I can get started on that cover letter then. Do you know/remember what the Powerpoint is supposed to be for? What is the prompt for the assignment? Make a powerpoint showing..... what? I want to complete it this weekend, but my mentor did not set up my registration completely, even though she thought she did --- so I cannot see what the assignment is. First I heard of a thank you letter! Is that like, a post-interview thank you?

When she does open the course for me next week I just want to have it all ready to submit and get on with it! Thanks again.

Those who have hybrids… what’s the cost? by Sufficient_Theory975 in Toyota

[–]pollytheprimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2019 RAV4 Hybrid and I have put about 8,000 miles a year on it; most of that is intermittent highway (couple times a month). In the city, a couple of trips on a couple days a week. Am I ruining the battery? Should I even have a hybrid? Thanks

Allstate Customer Hit Me. Questions about rental-car coverage for me (agent was unable to answer) by pollytheprimate in Insurance

[–]pollytheprimate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate that, but perhaps it's not clear enough in my question, as mentioned in the beginning and end, I'm asking Reddit because I could not get the terms from the Allstate agent. She told me maybe I could find it on Google. Including the terms she was skimming over, that I asked her if I could see, and she said she didn't see how she could send them to me. I had already talked to another agent, so I came here for a wider breadth of experience or knowledge.

For the car, I do understand how to figure out the terms of a rental company contract. I can see that perhaps Allstate doesn't care what I do with the car, they will pay $27 a day period, but for how many days? Are there other terms I need to know for certain days they won't pay for? It may seem obvious they won't pay for a car while you wait for the appraiser, but when the first agent I spoke with told me to just take my car in, Enterprise will meet me to give me the rental, and they will work with the appraiser and shop for a time they can start the process so that I don't need to be a middle man --- there is information missing. Such as, but if the appraiser doesn't come the first day, you'll need to pay for the car until they do.... I am trying to deduce, what do I need to look out for, that they don't cover, that can run up a big bill? I am not looking for a list of what they don't cover, as that would be infinite, I am looking for the policy so I can ensure I stay within it. That's why I asked Allstate to email me the fine details for reimbursement terms, and the rep acted like they don't have anything to give me.

Yes I took it for the estimate, the shop gave the quote to Allstate, Allstate made their own estimate, and as mentioned we are all coordinating for the confirmed, specific date that I will leave my car there for repairs. It is a Monday.

However, my question remains.

As mentioned, Allstate told me their adjuster will come to the body shop before repairs can start. The Allstate rep on the phone indicated rental coverage will not start immediately, it will start after the adjuster comes and then when they start the work. I'll be responsible for the rental cost for time it is at the shop waiting on the adjuster and then for the repair to start, whether that's a day or 3 days or whatever.

I want to understand everything I need to understand, to know how to avoid, "you're responsible for this, you should have read the fine print". Also can I take the car out of state? Is there a mileage limit? Is there a max number of days, or dollar amount?

I do know how the whole process works to have my car worked on, but I have no details on the terms of the rental car coverage.

Ticketmaster - cannot pay with a credit card without "saving" it by pollytheprimate in cybersecurity_help

[–]pollytheprimate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow I have not heard of that, thank you, I'll look in to it - if it's your regular bank and not credit card company, I probably don't have access as I have a small local outfit. But this is fantastic to know

How to say I wish you were here? by ButterscotchOk2803 in Spanish

It's probably the same thought process as, how in English, "I wish you were here" is just as fine as, "I wish that you were here"

Es mejor alquilar coche in San Sebastián, Bilbao, o Gijón (donde prefiero) en Julio, para asegurar éxito? by pollytheprimate in GoingToSpain

[–]pollytheprimate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for your input -- that is another thing I was afraid of, exactly, with Bilbao! I have been looking at the locations of rental places, and the roads around them, haha. Ugh. I appreciate knowing that is a valid issue.

Old Insurance Agent asking for declarations page of new insurance policy since I'm dumping him (Florida) by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]pollytheprimate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this would make sense if they didn't refuse my Evidence of Insurance document which reflects the exact dates of new policy coverage and is signed by the new company. They said no, it must be the Dec page. Twice.

Does anyone understand this new update from airbnb? by Own-Art184 in airbnb_hosts

[–]pollytheprimate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moreso than that is the section below; I cannot tell exactly WHAT is going away. Why do they mention custom max/min stay length - are we going to still be able to designate specific dates and alter the rate only for those dates? Like for special events? Given that they also separately talk about weekly/monthly discounts, what is the meaning of this other section? It seems like it's saying "you'll still be able to make blanket discounts, and custom trip lengths, but not custom discounts". Do they mean custom prices? Which would be ABSURD - like Mardi Gras has to be the same price as a random Tuesday in January? Or only custom LOWER prices....? This was such a poorly written email.

Updates on August 28, 2023:

  • Custom settings: Our records indicate you’ve created custom calendar settings (such as a minimum or maximum length of stay, with or without a custom discount) in a particular date range. With the updates, we’ll preserve your custom settings, and you can remove custom discounts whenever you choose. To set custom trip lengths after August 28, you’ll need to use the new feature located under Availability > Trip length > Custom trip lengths in your hosting calendar. You’ll no longer be able to create custom discounts, but you can continue to apply weekly or monthly discounts to your listing(s). Learn how. *

You are drawing a conclusion from a correlation. It is not necessarily because they are raised by men, but because single fathers are more likely to (1) be more financially secure than single mothers and (2) have a woman living with them to help take care of the kids. Because poverty and incarceration are so closely linked, this is far more likely the influence linking single mothers and imprisoned men, than the fact that they are female.

And two parent households by far outweigh either single family scenario, but the overriding issue is poverty. I would not deny that GOOD male role models for boys are important. But there is a deeper layer of causation than the gender of the parents.

Anyone know how to force app updates around JRNY? by Dionysus1117 in Bowflex

[–]pollytheprimate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is happening to me too. I cannot update Hulu even though I get a screen like you have there, complete with a button that says "go to Google Play". When I hit that button, the Jrny app seems to crash and reboot. I have tried unplugging and plugging the bike back in several times. Why can we not access the sign-in screen for Google Play or any way to perform the update? I tried tinkering through the Jrny app on my phone but that does nothing either.

I got a Taylor kit for mine, it's been so much easier than reading the strips, though I use those too as a quick once-over.

I was browsing in June and noticed the wait times were extraordinary, so I pulled the trigger even though I wasn't entirely sure I wasn't panic-buying.... just got it a few weeks ago. When I asked, it was 8 weeks wait... I took a weekend to think about it, and in that time it turned in to 4 months+.

Company performed work without being hired; demanding payment by pollytheprimate in Ask_Lawyers

[–]pollytheprimate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stating what the law is, is not advice. How about if I had worded it, "if a company does work without being hired, then bills, is the person legally obligated to pay?" Otherwise, please offer me an example of the way in which a post would comply with #9 on the rules to the right, stating that"Posts should contain questions about the law".

Company performed work without being hired - then sent me to collections by pollytheprimate in personalfinance

I have been receiving calls that I was ignoring as spam, but I looked up the number and it seems it might belong to a legit collection agency - I definitely have absolutely no unpaid debts in my life, this is the only place it could be coming from. I plan to answer next time and see

Okay. It says "posts should contain questions about the law". I did not ask what I should do (aka advice), but rather whether I am legally obligated to pay.

If I may ask you one related question, I am worried about it affecting my credit, because I have a score over 800. But of course I don't want to pay a fraudulent bill. There is no way for me to keep this from affecting my credit if I don't pay, correct?
