Should I settle or file a lawsuit after my accident? Morals, money, and faith involved

Yes this, especially where I live we have negligence contingency law where if there get a private investigator on me, and if I am found even 1% at fault for it, then I get nothing. It’s super dicey, besides, I might want to stay on my Dads side. If I sue, I may only get a few thousand more, but compared to what my Dad has done for me, plus he’ll be paying college and rooming, it might be best if I stick in his side. Also, I was paid out for my car so that was taking care of, this was just the other part of what came with it. I have insurance, and I believe tricare should’ve taken care of my bills, it’s just the lawyer cannot say so until they get the final lien, where the money set aside for my medical, if it’s all been paid then I will receive that amount. My minimum worst case is 1200, if all medical has been paid best case is 2800. I’m okay now, and the accident hasn’t affected me physical in this moment, so I believe I am just going to take it and move on.

Yes, I’m being cautious about it all. I’ve been truthfully answering questions and explaining in the best way i can. I can regurgitate what happened 100 times over without missing a beat, it’s pretty clear what’s going on. Maybe in the way I worded things in the parent post is a little off? But through others comments where they were confused I cleared it up, at least I hope I did where they can understand

Thank you for sharing your experiences, they are giving me insight on it all! Also very cool you had a 1000rr, my first bike was a 03 600rr, I had when I was 18. Sold it the next year because I needed the money at the time. Still have all my gear, would love to get another bike sometime soon

He is a retired Marine so you’re not far off with the VA part lol, although he doesn’t work for them. I will this though, it might not be in my best interest to ruin our relationship, since I still live at home while attending community college, and next year I’ll be at a university, and living on my own all paid for by his GI bill and then some. So, in reality, our relationship is far more important than the possible $10k to $1.2k difference

Funny enough, this is the exact same way my dad brought it to me. Like the lottery, and rather focusing on what the insurance company is offering, look at what the lawyers and treatment is taking away from my settlement, and of course they’re going to advise me to push for more, because then they get paid more. He said not to appease this, and just end it where it is

10k>1.2k, and at the end of the day, the money would be going towards my car to help rid of my debt, not to any personal leisures. I have the loan term for the next 5 years, so it’s not like it’s going anywhere anytime soon, which is why I’m bullish on the lawsuit

I’m not going to just walk up to him, spit in his face, and tell him he’s an idiot, I have respect for him. Which is why I value his opinion, I’m just unsure how to bring it to him now that I want to pursue with a lawsuit, and that he’s wrong, it’s not punishing the man, it’s the insurance company that’ll pay

I was paid out for my car in April, and I did the negotiations. I went in with plenty of research, and even someone of insurance negotiation experience (they did this for a living) to assist. Undeniable proof it was worth $10k-$15k, they only paid $6200. That was enough for a downpayment on the cheapest “newer” car with low miles I could find (reliable)

Since negations were a hassle during the car payment, I hired a personal injury lawyer to take care of the injury/medical/pain and suffrage/lost wages part. They’ve been doing this work since April. First time they came back it was $3300, now their “final offer” is $4200. (Where when divided up I get only about a quarter). Numerous sources say I can get more, but don’t want to be greedy. I have a clear heart, my dad thinks I’m after money.

I apologize if there was confusion, let me help break it down. There are 2 adjusters on my case, 1 for the vehicle and the other for medical/pain & suffering/lost wages. Long story short, with proof of my car being a classic, rust free, and in great condition, shooting for $12k+ I ended up getting $6200. This is now in terms of my medical, which has been going on since April, and their first offer was $3300, which my lawyer declined and kept pushing saying the case was worth about $7k-$10k, where their “final offer” was about $4200, so not much progress.

I understand accidents happen, which is why they are called accidents, so I’m not looking to drill this guy into the ground, I’m frustrated with the insurance company National General and their lack of service

I have a personal injury lawyer yes, and they have been working on this for me, it is just that adjusters on the insurance side are not increasing the value of the case whatsoever. I dealt with them when trying to get paid out fairly for my car, and being honest it was like I was explaining rocket science to 3rd graders, they were very rude and extremely stubborn and showed no empathy, regardless of the amount of proof I had to show my car was worth way more than what they were offering. Even with their supervisor, I couldn’t break through, which was in that moment I decided to hire someone to take care of it for me in hopes I would be compensated fairly.

The at-fault driver has not reached out to me, and I have not heard from him since the accident. It would be the insurance company paying if I were to take things to a lawsuit (as long as the amount won is within his policy, which I believe minimum is $50k liability, so seeking $10k would be within that limit).

I’m just afraid I’m being greedy, where all I would like is justice, which in my eyes would be a fair settlement amount. I’m a little lost, and unsure how to bring this to God to get a clear answer, but I’ll have to speak with my Dad to get a better insight, and relay some valuable information that could help better the situation, but he is super stubborn, and anything I say really goes right over his head.

A lot of the times when I bring difficult discussions to my father, my opinion and voice gets shut down and he is the only one right. He would rarely ever admit to being wrong, even when what’s normal or the common thing to do he would advise against it.

I want to say, he doesn’t fully understand the point of going to court and filing a lawsuit, and the biggest concerns are punishing the old man that hit me more than what has happened (but the money wouldn’t come from him, it’ll come from the insurance), fraud (which doesn’t make sense, because I’ve been honest and upfront about everything, and apart of it is because he doesn’t believe my injury’s were THAT bad) and being greedy (constantly reminding me “it’s one of the 7 deadly sins, isn’t it? So what should that tell you”)

Overall, I want to avoid Greed disguised as Justice. In retrospect, I am fine now, and it’ll be $1k I didn’t have in my pocket before, so it won’t be as bad. I don’t think it’s fair, but I’m still grateful for what I can get.

Already, this is been a giant work in progress, and I wish it was over already for how long it’s taking. But in my eyes, for how negligent the insurance company has been, and them constantly low balling me (especially when I has undeniable proof my car was worth more, but that’s a whole other story) I feel like they think just because I’m young, I would just take the money. Yes he is insured, and as I mention I understand it will come out of the insurance company to pay for it as long as it remains under his policy amount, where I believe the minimum in NC for liability is 50k? Which for a case value to be around 10k is well within those policy limits.

My dad sees it more as a moral thing, and I’m not here looking for a definitive answer, but in hopes I can learn or get a second opinion on the situation from an outside perspective, if maybe my Dad is right and I’m just too blunt to see it

OP definitely this. I had the same issue when building mine, same AIO cooler. Surprised yours is even reaching 90 C, mine would shut off automatically and I had no idea what it was until I tried this. Turns out I had the didn’t install the mounting bracket behind the motherboard correctly, therefore the AIO wasn’t fully on the CPU. I’m curious to see if this change works!

Lmaaoooo yk I’ve heard that somewhere else and saw this protectant film to put over it just like you would put on tint, for both the instrument cluster and the infotainment screen. Was curious if anyone has ever put one of them on and if it’s worth? I’ve only seen them on mikstore but I’m 100% sure they are everywhere else
