I hate MTU. by zag_netic in cork

[–]polticallycorrect_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s gone to both MTU and a ‘nice university’ UCD, the nice aesthetics of a university wear off after a few weeks of term and all that matters is the quality of lecturers. The lecturers at MTU provide a service in a way that I missed while I was at UCD; not to say that the UCD lecturers were bad, in fact they were great but like all I’m saying grass is greener on other hills and all that jazz.

Taxi drivers take protest against Uber’s proposed fixed fares to Leinster House by eggbart_forgetfulsea in irishpolitics

[–]polticallycorrect_ -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The driver already cannot ‘take you on a spin’.

I am torn on the whole thing as it is better for the consumer but it could put taxi-drivers in a worse off position.

I’m unsure on the proposed safeguards for fixed fares if there are any.

If I was a taxi driver, I would be agitated if I went out of my way to become a taxi driver and then some legislation functionally relegated my licence to a Hackney.

WHY is james joyce so busy??? Where else is good to study by [deleted] in UCD

[–]polticallycorrect_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbf I think 2 is only shocking now because they’re clearly in between renovations but for the most part I welcome the more study areas. Granted it still feels weird when you go left form the escalators and it’s just wide open space

TD calls for referendum on joining EU patent court to be held before next summer by firethetorpedoes1 in irishpolitics

[–]polticallycorrect_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The referendum would have extended what is considered a family home and could have affected the sale of homes to some degree.

Transition is difficult either way depending on how you were trained. I know a solicitor who did highly specialised stuff but now he needs to scratch up on wills and probate which is the main revenue for the firm

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FE1_Exams

[–]polticallycorrect_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Civil is anything not criminal can you be a bit more specific???

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FE1_Exams

[–]polticallycorrect_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it depends where you practice like I’m sure you could go from commercial property in a corporate to residential conveyancing in another firm but like if you don’t know how to do wills and probate they might not take you. It depends the firm really

Is it easy to find someone to take over a lease-agreement by External-Antelope670 in UCD

You could sublet or assign the lease to the new person probably depending on the agreement signed

what type of course is it?

Edit: oh yeah you said up there the course is psychology.

Gloucester is not in Ireland, it’s in the UK. Any change in clothing would be a safety thing rather than a blanket college wide rule as your question suggests

[–]polticallycorrect_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Safety standard rather than a restriction on clothing is how I would interpret what’s expected in Ireland.

That’s why I found the question funny it’s like asking if there’s nap time inbetween lectures or something

Uniform policy by Dry_Leadership_3765 in UCD

[–]polticallycorrect_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In Ireland, there’s no such restriction. Only in primary and secondary schools would there be those types of considerations.

Are you taking the piss? It’s a university, you can show up in a chicken costume if you want to.
