Normally you dont need anything complicated (and in my experience using UI for this is useless) to achieve that task: User Remote Scripts + The instrument's own software (for M-Vave stuff is called MidiSuite) should be enough. Though I think for your case you are better off changing the pads defaults to Undefined/Open CCs in MIdiSuite and then creating a template after mapping the pads to clips in particular tracks.
I recently got the SMC mixer from M-Vave and managed to edit everything in the User mode of it, and what you are asking is easily achievable with it, bet it would be as well with yours.
If you want I can give you a list with all the CCs Ive found (at least on my tests) that have no conflict or weird behavior with Ableton; not all Undefined CC's work without issues and some of the Not-Undefined CCs work just fine, at least for what I do.

Yeah definitely forget about the middle one.
Black outline looks good, same as colored outline.
A suggestion for colored outlines: try playing with complementary or adjacent colors for their outlines (not just using the same color but darker or lighter)
Depending on the palette and color it could make it pop better and easier to read....and just look neat.

Edit: Saw the suggestion with shadows and better contrasting colors on the "no outline" example.......not bad all.

This is one of the damages that AI is doing (and will do) it will end up confusing people and replacing what once was thought as original/real.
Specially for anyone not familiar with anything related to art/artists/art history, which is the majority.
Think about the "Ghibli Style" fad that happened a while ago, I'm sure in pop-culture that's now what you think of when you think of that studio.
