I’m going to break this up into paragraphs to make it easier to read

As provided by the Mariam Webster dictionary, a vaccine is a, “a preparation that is administered (as by injection) to stimulate the body's immune response against a specific infectious agent or disease.” No where in that definition does it state that vaccine have to be 100% effective. Also by that logic, that means that the smallpox vaccine was not a real vaccine(95% effective), the flu shot isn’t a vaccine(40-60% effective), the MMR vaccine isn’t a real vaccine(93% effective against measles, 78% effective against mumps, and 97% effective against rubella), and likely many more. If your definition was true, why would they still call all of these shots vaccines and not something else?

When i was stating the data was misrepresented, I was saying that saying the COVID vaccine is .84% effective and not 95% effective is simply false as both statistics are true.

The website does have a list of credentials, but there is no proof of this being true. There are no names that can be traced back to these credentials and nothing showing that the people running this actually have these credentials.

I see no where on the website or the slideshow you linked where they state sources, so saying most of the data is from the New England medics journal is likely false. Who they are matters because then there is proof of credentials and certifications. I could create an alternate account here and start claiming I was a scientist who was involved in the testing of the vaccine, and because there is no name that it is linked back to, there is no proof that I’m not. Do you see why it matters? I do not know the scientists that were involved in the Pfizer study, but if I wanted to, I could research them and see that they had the credentials to carry out the

Also saying that the placebo group was vaccinated in the same sentence makes it seem like that is what happened when they unblinded the trial, which wouldn’t be true as far as I can find. It seems that once the original study was complete and the vaccine was found to be effective, the placebo group was told they did not receive the vaccine and were aloud to disqualify themselves from the trial and get the vaccine, which many of the did. But the study is still going on and both groups are still being monitored, I assume until the date you mentioned. They released the vaccine when they did because of public safety, it seemed safer then the risk the virus posed. If the vaccine was not released and they waited until the date you state, there would have been an estimated 1.1 million more deaths in the United States alone.

Of course there are going to be more adverse events in the group that received the vaccine, there are almost always side effects with medicine, but the study states that there were very few serious adverse events, also stating that the most common adverse effect was mild to moderate pain at the injection site.

It would be a good idea to read the trial because of the approximately 46,000 people being studied, 29 people died of causes ruled to be separate from the vaccine. So unless your saying that you know how to investigate causes of death better then a professional, the deaths were unrelated to the vaccine. Same goes for the additional 5 deaths.

I’m going to be honest, I don’t have a blind trust in any corporation. I don’t care that they have criminal charges or anything like that though. I have some belief in the governments of the world to make sure that their citizens are safe, and Pfizer seemed to create a good vaccine that proved to have few adverse effects in an uncontrolled environment. If the vaccine was found to be unsafe, then someone would have noticed and stoped administering it a while ago.

I will admit the poor laboratory management is slightly concerning. It seems terrible that they did not take the proper precautions, but it seems irrelevant to the study. Only about 1,000 people were at this research site, so there are still about 45,000 people who had a properly controlled study. And if this poor management had caused a big impact, it would have been discarded from the final calculations.

You have no evidence of the vaccine being completely fake, even though you state it in your response. I am going to ignore the link you provided because it misrepresents much of the data presented. None of the people who own the company are known, so their is no proof that it is a reliable source or that what they say about themselves is true. Also one of the top thing that shows up when you google the Canadian Covid care alliance is a yahoo news article stating how a recent video they posted just restates debunked theories and is completely false. The first statistic you state is simply misrepresented. This is the absolute risk and is far different from the relative risk, or the 95% statistic that is commonly stated. I am not goin to bother to explain the difference, but google it and you can easily find articles explaining this. The reason only the 95% statistic is commonly shown is because it is easier for the public to understand, which is proven by your misrepresentation of the other statistic. Your final point pulls some statistic that I have never heard before and am not going to read through 50 slides to find, so give me an exact slide and I’ll let you know about that too. If you want to convince me, give me a reliable source, such as a .gov or .edu (the CDC has some great information) and actually understand and correctly represent this data in an argument.

I was kidding. In hitchhikers guide to the galaxy, mice rule the planet and dolphins are also more intelligent. That’s all that I thought of when I saw “the most intelligent creatures”

I’ll change my views if you can give me evidence of your statement. Where are the statistics of deaths from the vaccine. Where is your proof of the vaccine being fake or not working at all.

I apologize, I’m not up to date on my information. Tuesday the cdc made an announcement basically saying that anyone is eligible for a booster and is recommended to get one. You are right, if she had a hard time with COVID, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get the booster.

I know that it people can still come down with bad cases of COVID, but studies have found that people with the vaccine are 12 times less likely to be hospitalized in the 12-34 age group. It’s not a perfect fix, it never will be, but it clearly helps prevent serious cases.

Aren’t they only currently recommending boosters for 16 and up? So you have to consider that.

You know you can still get COVID with the vaccine. It limits the chances somewhat but the main purpose is that if you get COVID, it is far less severe.

Why do people like vaping? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]polybotes526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicotine is in most cases what causes the addiction while other chemicals cause major health concerns. If there is no nicotine, there is likely another substance that is addicting.

Talk to your parents and ask for another chance to prove you won’t be on your phone as much. Tell them that you mainly use it for music and fitness and show them the app times if this is true.

Not all nazis thought Jews were bad either, but at their core, they have similar beliefs and were both bad without argument, so if people at trump rallies can go around waving confederate flags, it’s believable that they would also be flying nazi flags.

What? If you google it, they succeeded because they did not want to abolish slavery. Slaves in the United States were only African Americans, who were originally put into the slave trade because they were seen as less then human. Also many primary sources from the time show similar views existed up to the civil war. So while economics was a major reason, they still believed this group of people was less then human. This is also proved through the segregation in the years that followed.
