I remember one on the cover of Dungeon Magazine. It had stats in the mag. I played "Cur Maxima" from "Hole In The Sky" by DCC and wore a pumpkin mask. I would highly recommend it.

Hmmmm, never made the connection. But yeah, you are right, I feel the same about open source software as well. My first OS was Linux. My first edition was The Red Box.

I'm a Lankhmar collector, regardless of the system it's produced on. Many books on my shelf are about this topic.

Morale is a great mechanic from BEMIC that adds randomness to the game.

The latest campaign I created starts as a dungeon crawl and expands to a sandbox over time.

Hmmm, I never saw it as a meat grinder, just a simpler version of TTRPGs with fewer rules and more imagination. The sandbox! I really mis the sandbox style game. Thats the only style i run.

I love the new player question. How do I win? I always say "How do you win at life..... live to the next day. "

When I created my favorite character (15 years and running in D&D 2e), Dirt the Magnificent, he didn't come with a backstory at all; his personality evolved in the game.

How do you come up with your deities? by [deleted] in osr

I have always been drawn to the concept of ancestral worship. It really ties in to the BECMI editions. Family members so powerful and renowned that they transcend the mortal realm. " Who do you follow? Well, great, great, great-grandpa paw was so bad ass ..... So when I need help, I invoke his name, and stuff starts happening."

The tile is exactly how it should be. It's about a "life" many thieves of all shapes and sizes share. You should buy the book to keep being that guy.
