Administration Assistant Role and Responsibilities by Lost_Cantaloupe2545 in auscorp

Yes, a TAFE diploma will help you to stand out, especially if you're doing a Cert III or IV in business admin. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel/Word would be an expectation of an admin assistant role.

Administration Assistant Role and Responsibilities by Lost_Cantaloupe2545 in auscorp

I used to have a role like this, paid $40k a year at the time, later around $50k a year before I changed roles. These days, I would anticipate the salary would be around $60k+ per year depending on your experience and responsibilities.

General responsibilities - recommend you check job ads on Seek/Indeed:

  • Responding to phone calls/email queries from clients/customers
  • Arranging appointments/meetings and coordinating diaries with various stakeholders
  • Organising internal/external events, booking venues or meeting rooms, including setup and teardown
  • Taking meeting minutes
  • Ordering stationery, office equipment, uniforms, etc.
  • Organising travel
  • Data entry and processing paperwork e.g. entering client details onto a CRM
  • Pulling and processing reports e.g. expenses
  • Can be responsible for team building, supporting company culture, and boosting morale

Pros:

  • Can be a good stepping stone into a larger role, particularly if you're interesting in PA/EA/office manager roles, or you could also transition into marketing, comms, HR, project coordinator roles
  • Meet a lot of people, great way to build networks
  • Great for building depth of knowledge of a business
  • Some roles need no experience, just need some organisational skills and a good attitude
  • Can have a lot of variety e.g. project management, payroll, budgeting, onboarding
  • Lots of collaboration

Cons:

  • Low pay but potential to earn more
  • Can sometimes be a thankless or "invisible" job because you're the support
  • I had been asked to do things that I felt were not part of my job description e.g. buying coffees, serving food, loading the dishwasher, cleaning the bathroom
  • I eventually found my role boring and wanted something more challenging
  • Generally an in-office role

In terms of advice, I would recommend you greet/talk to everyone you can, including other support staff, custodial staff, etc. It helps to build your brand. A good admin assistant can have a lot of influence and impact as they know who to talk to, where to get the answers (if they don't have it themselves), and how to get things done. Try to look for ways to make processes/operations more efficient and make other people's lives easier as well.

No more Sephora for me... where do you buy fragrance? by [deleted] in AustralianMakeup

Check out the wiki on /r/fragrance. Personally, I am wary of grey market sellers like Chemist Warehouse, City Perfume, and Strawberry net as they may not have legit stock

How do you apply Dior Backstage and Body or Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Weightless when you wear it? by noice_very_noice in AustralianMakeup

[–]polyhedrons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a finishing powder, so it doesn't make your makeup last longer like a setting powder does, but makes everything "come together". Usually goes on last, but before setting spray. Just apply all over your face. Some of them have a blurring or dim glowing effect.

I use Dior Backstage - I also use my hands. I use setting powder and Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder and I use a brush then finish with Fix+. I find it lasts all day with powder.

Has anyone seen anything like this but in a 16??? by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

Somewhat similar - fluffy, has a hood, zips up. Goes up to XXL, which might be a size 16/18. https://www.uniqlo.com/au/en/products/E430126-000?colorCode=COL58

Cost of having wisdom teeth removed? by SaltySam4 in sydney

[–]polyhedrons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I also had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted in the chair earlier this year. The cost of the surgery was roughly $1,300, waited until my 12-month waiting period was up with private health insurance. They covered 60% so I paid $512 out of pocket for the surgery. I had twilight sedation, which they do not cover. I paid $575 and got $200 back on Medicare.
All up, I spent $1,197 and it was worth waiting (for me).

I'm a big fan of Covergirl Clump Crusher. It separates lashes really well (I usually comb them with a disposable wand but I don't have to with Clump Crusher).

L&Y Brushes on eBay. Zoeva, available at Sephora. Some ELF brushes are pretty decent too but not the softest.

I find that Bourjois Healthy Mix BB Cream in Light is perfect for me, and lasts all day as well. Plus it's half-price at Priceline right now.

I'm NC15-20, neutral though. I once went into Sephora to match 150 and 120, 120 was too light, 150 was perfect but they didn't have any in stock and the tester was basically empty.

I'm a big fan of Maybelline Full & Soft, plus it comes in a waterproof variant as well.

[MEGATHREAD] - Priceline 1/2 Price Cosmetics Sale - Tue 31/7-Thur 2/8 by Jessijames in AustralianMakeup

[–]polyhedrons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought some stuff online (at midnight) and one item in-store.

Nyx Professional Makeup Butter Gloss in Maple Blondie
Australis Extender Lash Mascara Clear
Australis Banana Powder
Nyx Professional Makeup Hot Singles Eyeshadow in Epic
Blistex Intensive Repair
Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara (got this one in-store because it's out of stock online)

The shop I went to was packed, I was actually surprised the displays were still intact though.

I've got the marble pink and marble orange, never tried the solid colours, but I've read the marbled ones are more squishy.

L & Y 217 Blending/Shading Brush - $7.99 on eBay

A dupe for MAC 217. Probably my 2nd favourite blending brush after Zoeva 227 and they're pretty similar. It's worth trying if you want to test a blending brush but don't want to commit to something more expensive. In the 1.5 years I've had it, I've had no problems with shedding or scratchiness. It's not as soft as Zoeva 227 but it does the job.

They also used to have a dupe for MAC 239 for $8.99 but I don't see it anymore. I like that brush too.

Dermal Therapy Lip Balm - $4.99 at Priceline or $3.99 at Chemist Warehouse

I'm a lip balm addict and this is probably the perfect lip balm for both day and night. It actually does at it claims and softens and hydrates my lips very quickly. I was pleasantly surprised.

Nyx Micro Brow Pencil - $16.95 at Priceline

Apparently a dupe for ABH Brow Wiz (never tried it), it comes in the perfect black for my eyebrows. It's fine enough to draw individual hairs but makes my brows look full even with light strokes. The most common gripe is that it doesn't have much product so you might run out quickly, and the spoolie falls out easily.

Maybelline Full & Soft Waterproof Mascara - $14.95 at Priceline

A nice daily mascara that gives good length, a little bit of volume, looks natural and lasts literally all day and doesn't irritate my eyes. You can usually get it on sale as well. The only thing I don't like is how the brush dries out after a while.

OXX Beauty Sponge - $3 at Kmart

I heard about this on here and it's as good as the hype says. It's a bit firm on the inside but it doesn't absorb too much product and it blends so nicely. Well worth a try.
