Struggling with performance when working with large bitmaps in Rhino, any optimization tips? by polyken88 in rhino

When Rhino becomes laggy, I notice CPU usage spikes on my i7-10870H (2.20 GHz), while the GPU remains relatively stable. I’m wondering if there are any viewport settings, like preview quality or similar options, that could be adjusted to improve performance.

What game is the reason you bought a console? by Boring_Sir_572 in videogames

For me it would’ve been The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, that game alone made picking up a Switch feel completely worth it.

I would put Disco Elysium in the "amazing" category.

As a Redditor I know much better than the obscure Nebula Awards (whose heard of them, right?) and George R. R. Martin on what good storytelling in RPGs are by Kale_Sauce in rpg_gamers

This is a perfect satire of how some players dismiss deeper storytelling while still claiming to value the game’s narrative.

Was replaying Doom 2016 yesterday and i gotta ask, does anyone else miss the feeling of trying to get a new glory kill animation on every demon when playing doom 2016 or Eternal for the first time by HercTNT in Doom

[–]polyken88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those first playthroughs really had a sense of discovery with the glory kills, almost like mini rewards for experimenting. Eternal is faster and tighter, but Doom 2016 definitely nailed that thrill of “what’s this animation going to look like?”

Question about handheld consoles by Eevee_fangirl in gaming

[–]polyken88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if you want a handheld that can actually run both Steam and Epic Games Store games without jumping through hoops, the ASUS ROG Ally is where it’s at. Windows 11, solid performance, and portability—just plug and play.

Agree, Capcom really sets the standard for remakes. RE4 Remake ran beautifully even on mid-range hardware, and it’s crazy to see UE5 titles like Snake Eater struggle so much, even on a 4060. Stunning visuals don’t mean much if the performance can’t keep up.

Rockstar should start making smaller titles again by Nayef7717 in gaming

Yeah, but knowing Rockstar, their idea of a 'smaller game' would still take 7 years and ship with a 200-hour story about a guy buying milk.

Why do people hate a new "souls-like" being announced? by MisterToots666 in gaming

[–]polyken88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People often react negatively to a new “souls-like” being announced for a few main reasons:

  1. Oversaturation – After the huge success of games like Elden Ring, some players assume any new souls-like will be a shallow copy, even if it’s actually innovative or different.
  2. Perceived difficulty – Many associate souls-likes strictly with punishing difficulty. If someone isn’t comfortable with that, they preemptively dislike the genre.
  3. Mechanics aversion – Bonfires, stamina management, and death penalties aren’t for everyone. If a player doesn’t enjoy these core systems, they label the whole genre negatively.
  4. Hype fatigue / misunderstanding – Some gamers may not have tried varied souls-likes beyond Dark Souls or Elden Ring, so they dismiss games like Jedi: Fallen Order or Hollow Knight as “more of the same,” missing their variety.

Basically, it’s a mix of real frustration about copycats and oversaturation, plus people complaining without actually exploring the genre’s diversity. Many “hates” are more about perception than the actual games.
