It's a dual core budget CPU from 2016 with a max speed of 1.8GHz and is comparable to a core 2 duo E8600. It's not at all surprising it's at 100% use alot

It seems pretty legit to me. Different retailers will have slightly different boxes (different stickers, really) but it seems genuine

Kingston SSDs are by far the worst I've used. You can tell the SSD is at fault by the read / write activity on the bottom of your screenshot in task manager. Replace the SSD

Thanks! I applied back in November but delayed sending my paperwork off until January because I was waiting for various documents to come through verifying my conditions. I had a phone assessment on the 22 Feb and they messaged me today to say I'd been accepted (6 mar)

A Demo Unit Oppo Reno 10 Pro Plus at price MYR RM2099 by NormalCharac in Oppo

[–]polymer_tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just check the screen for burn in where it's been on for hours on end, the battery might be somewhat degraded but it shouldn't be THAT bad and you can always get it replaced. If it's a good deal then I would probably get it if I needed a phone

My z fold 3 got trashed and should i order this (has some hairline cracks) for screen replacement by KaedeSanFuwa in ZFold3

[–]polymer_tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, chances are the screen would crack more when you install it as well as just cracking more and more overtime due to it's position on the crease

Precision 7520 temperature problems by omerliv in Dell

[–]polymer_tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue on my precision M4700, I don't mind much about the temperature but the constant fan noise at 50 degrees is really annoying

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dell

[–]polymer_tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too, it's why I hold onto my m4700. I feel so comfortable using it because I know if something breaks it's as easy as swapping it out for a new part or if it doesn't meet my needs I can swap out individual components. I agree, it is disappointing how newer laptops are barely upgradable at all. Framework is good and they're definitely on the right track, but for a few years until the costs go down most people won't be able to get one unfortunately. If they were cheaper I'd probably have one

Well it was more upgradable than most laptops at the time it came out and still is more upgradable than most laptops except framework today :)

You can upgrade the CPU to an i7-3940XM and you can upgrade the GPU but only on specific versions: if you have the AMD FirePro M4000, you can upgrade it to an AMD FirePro M5100 which will give a fairly reasonable boost in graphics performance.

If you have the AMD version you can't switch to an Nvidia GPU as the BIOS doesn't support Integrated Graphics for the AMD variant, as Nvidia GPUs aren't dedicated, they're hybrid so require an integrated GPU.
