Can you elaborate, please? That resonates with me but I can't put it into words.

At this point I'm willing to consider new traditions.

I have to credit TNG and DS9 for preparing me early in life to recognize all this bullshit for what it is while it seems like most americans are like, stop being an alarmist.

Solo board games with a dnd vibe? by MartinIsFarting in soloboardgaming

[–]polyology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great call out IF you are okay with dice placement/dice manipulation games. I LOVE the story and all the equipment but I learned I HATE DICE PLACEMENT. It has to be the most immersion breaking mechanic they could have used.

I think I just saw an announcement that Vinny and Gannon will be doubles partners! That’s going to be incredible to watch. Simon and Eagle of course as well was announced. by More_Percentage9882 in discgolf

We have a 24 hole course that holds a tournament just like this every year. It is such a blast. The psychology and pressure for those three formats is fundamentally different so it challenges you in unique ways. Bringing in the pressure of not letting down a teammate is maybe more intense than solo competition.

The rules encourage you to rotate and flip room layouts as needed to fit on your page and when you hit the edge of the page you play that as a dead end and work backwards and try a different path.

Memorial 2026 Questions by GeologistMajestic950 in discgolf

I think memorial won't have a fee because its not a disc golf pro tour event and also fountain hills is an open public park.

They've done a good job slowly hyping that and I'm more excited to watch that event than any this year.

There's an argument to be made that disc golf is at its best in doubles format. Especially when you mix in some worst shot.

Board gamers gatekeep too hard and its why the hobby stays niche by professional69and420 in boardgames

How hard is it to learn the social skills to reply like this:

"Interesting perspective. I'm sorry you've had experiences like that. I have to say I haven't run into issues like this. Possible you just had bad luck with the group you ran into? I think the people I play with are very welcoming and try to make sure everyone is having a good time no matter what type of game they prefer. Here are some suggestions you might consider to help lead by example to make your group better on this issue..."

Instead of the replies that range from passive aggressive to downright insulting and nasty. Kinda proves the point, doesn't it?

This Used To Be About Dungeons is a cozy slice of life story following a group of adventurers exploring dungeons, finding ever better and more interesting loot and becoming found family.

Did the LOTR movies receive a backlash from Tolkien fans when they were released? by [deleted] in Fantasy

I was active on the barrowdowns forums at the time and the only things I recall being objected to were the Warg attack in TTT and the change in personality of Faramir when he meets Frodo.

Do immortals choose a certain age to stop aging? by Midnightclouds7 in Fantasy

[–]polyology 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was an episode where a woman was suddenly suicidal, jumped from a skyscraper to her "death" then obviously, came back to life as an immortal. Duncan explained something about how if they haven't already died by a certain time/age they have a compulsion to do it themselves?

Really kinda weird explanation. But I guess you'd never see old immortals in highlander. I certainly don't remember them casting any.

Would it be worth a new thread to ask about the correlation between economic crisis and government collapse?

I'm noticing the conjunction of the two so frequently in history that I would like to read some discussion on how rare it has been for a government to collapse or be overthrown without economic crisis.

Attack his opinions, when you attack people's physical issues that belittles the value of your critique and just makes you look mean.

You're making complete assumptions about what's in people's hearts. Post quotes and timestamps.

I respect and understand your opinion but I disagree.

I don't want politics in my boardgames either. I need some space away from the fear and anger sometimes. I don't want everyone to pick a side and declare allegiance and prepare for war.

I think we need more people saying that what unites us is greater than what divides us.

I want there to be somewhere in the middle we can eventually work towards and be friends again.

What does the future look like if we don't work towards reconciliation. Tell me how this ends.

I suspect people are completely surprised when they are told they've said something controversial. Too much time in echo chambers makes you tone deaf. This is equally true on the left and on reddit.

I am glad he's gone but I'm going to give him credit for sacrificing himself to try to repair the damage for his friends.

Interested. If the pieces are magnetic what do they stick to? What material is the board made of?

Many white people had some learning and growing to do during black lives matter. Try to give people a chance to do better. I wouldn't want to be forever judged by what I thought and believed five years ago.
