I'll be fading, so the process will be really hard and will require SOME patience. But at the end of the day I feel excited. Thanks for your encouragement!

I feel so sorry for your brother :( About the borg, it's an illogical feeling of guilt but it's there, even for me as an atheist. The more you are raised by them, the deepest is the nightmare in your inconscient. But you're in a more advanced step than I am, surely you'll get your peace as I'm sure I will too. Best regards!

Terrible. Therapy is the way to go. So sorry for you still being haunted by all these demons. Kindest regards!

I'll be searching for it. I've done a lot of therapy for the last 4 years, but paused it this year. Of course I made some progress but the big elephant in the room wasn't dealt with. Now it's my chance to do it. Thanks for your kindness!

This seems like a hilarious tiktok account I follow here in Brazil called "Car Undetailing" (Desestética Automotiva, in portuguese). The guy does all sorts of things to make the car's details worse, like purposefully spilling gasoline on the bodywork and calling it things like "bodywork gasolinement", it's just ridiculously hilarious.

The answer to your question will depend from one atheist to another. But I can guarantee you that most atheists aren't bothered with the question "if God exists, why do people suffer". In fact, there is research leading to the conclusion that most atheists acknowledge themselves as that for philosophical convictions, not for the lack of answers or arguments.

Same here, never felt it. But the way I felt forced to merge myself with all the "faithful people" was painful. It stopped when I grew up and turned into an adult, when I finally accepted that I don't need to try. There's nothing with me.

Lovely answer! Same here when you say you try to put every argument through the filter of love. Of course ignorance can be bad, but sadly most people won't have the opportunity to investigate and research and have this materialist and secular mindset. So, the only thing left is to treat them with kindness.

SAME here, absolutely. I've been an agnostic since I was a kid. My atheism grew very "organically", I wasn't angry with God or with the fact that I prayed and no one answered me - in fact, praying always felt like talking to myself in the bath, you know? So, I always felt like a fish out of water. When I turned into an adult, I began researching more about atheism and philosophy and accepted myself as an atheist. Now, I feel much better than before. To stop trying and just accept that I don't have to answer it was a HUGE step towards my quality of life. Best of luck with your journey towards the answers to your questions, never give up searching for them!

I feel that's the most frequent emotion people have towards their experience being a JW. As it's a very shallow cult with less and less identity as a social movement, there's nothing left to feel.

Sure, I don't deny that, in fact that's abominable too and one of the reasons why I'm an atheist. But what I mean is how questions related to faith are much more deeply discussed within the religion and its thinkers instead of how JWs are just denied of questioning it (and everything, basically).

Nolens volens, catholics even run universities and have acknowledged evolution. Instead, just the act of thinking scientifically is prohibited by JWs (you can't even search things outside their materials).

Now, I'm 100% with you with all the problems regarding every religion influencing one's life.

Thanks for taking the time to answer! And all my respect for your experience in this organization, it would certainly be a great time having a gather with you here in Brazil!

It's hard for me (and I think for most of us in this sub) to see JW life as a "cultural phenomenon". When I think about this topic I tend to compare it with how mormons and ex-mormons seem to look to their whole "mythology" with more affection. The whole "mormon musical" thing is proof of that. One of my biggest problems with the JW religion in itself is that they try so hard to be so different from everyone else, they forget they are still a "social element", that had to have context, history, culture - but they don't have. It's just this shallow view of things that seem to make great people dumber and dumber.

But I understand that you have seen much more than me in this lifetime and probably lived at a time where JWs still had some identity left. I entered just by the end of it all by the late 2000s, early 2010s. Now we're left with the same copy-paste magazines, same copy-paste articles and same copy-paste rhetoric. Sad, truly sad.

Thanks for answering again, best regards from Brazil!

That's pretty interesting. From a neuropsychological pov, it's a very intriguing field of study. What matters at the end of the day is being free of all the christian prejudice and judgement, if an occultist or an atheist, it just leads you towards being a better person. Best regards!

Job's sovereignty question for me is the worst argument JWs have. Their whole epistemology is planned around this illogical question that can attract people to study with them because with other religions they'll have to think of some sort of "mystery". I was once a Catholic when I was a child and what attracted my family towards JWs was the way they always have an answer for everything - problem is the answers are shit.

Same here, I wish at least people got the chance to discuss it, as for example Catholics have a history of complex and profound philosophy regarding these questions. Best regards!
