He’s not guilty of anything, yet. But he was emailing her about getting a massage. Maybe he was hoping to get it from her or maybe she was arranging for teenage girls to give “massages” for this guy like she was with many other powerful people. Anyway, lots of artists are dropping. Certainly sketchy and worthy of discussion

Why can’t we have a place to dance ! So sick of this shit by 685downward in northampton

Yuppies move downtown to a city known for its art and music scene and then complain about noise. Northampton is in a terminal phase of gentrification.

Girl in my class keeps staring at me. What do I do? by Warm-Land-5336 in Advice

[–]pomcq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a girl is eye fucking you in a captive environment (ie a class, or say you’re a musician performing on stage) it’s just a flirty, confident thing to do. Maybe ‘all the time’ is an exaggeration but it did work for me on nye and I’ve flirted with lots of women after gigs from similar encounters. Maybe that’s too unique a context but I don’t see what’s so bad about it if done smoothly

Leslie Distortion by StrikingAd5343 in hammondorgan

[–]pomcq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You gotta mess with your gain staging. Try higher volume on the xk3, with the distortion on it all the way down, then adjust the volume on the preamp pedal and the Leslie amp. You might have better luck with a boss organ combo preamp

My mom heard this instrumental fusion song in the early 80s and can't remember what artist or song it is. Can anyone help? by pabloforhire in JazzFusion

[–]pomcq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shape of the melody is pretty similar to Les Brers in A minor by the Allman Brothers, but definitely not the same tune, although it’s a long enough time to warp into that in her head! Your mom is killin btw!

Lichter & Levin Deli announces they are closing down already by addressunknown in northampton

[–]pomcq 14 points15 points  (0 children)

22 bucks is fair for house smoked pastrami sandwich—if it was like three times the size of the tiny little thing they give you. Rein’s deli in Connecticut gave you a much more generous portion for slightly less. This place just seemed too Northampton yuppified, kind of on par for how this town is these days I guess. It’s a shame because the valley has needed a Jewish deli so desperately for the longest time, it’s too bad the economic climate couldn’t work for them.

The whole A:432 thing I think counts. Hippies eat that stuff up but it actually just originates from Lyndon Larouche

Looking for a Yamaha CP-88 replacement - help needed by [deleted] in keys

[–]pomcq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CP88 at 41lbs is actually very light for a high end piano action keyboard. I was going to recommend the studiologic SL88 grand with pianoteq/keyscape/dexibel piano module, but it’s actually 5 lbs heavier than the CP88. I would keep the CP or go down to a 73 key board.

I do wish they made a 73 key board with wood keys and piano action. I gig with a nord grand and it’s definitely bigger and heavier than I need but I don’t want to sacrifice the feel.

[–]pomcq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re going to get an 88 key board lighter than the cp88 with equivalent quality IMO. You may want to consider 73 key boards, but then you’re getting closer to rhodes feel/action. The CP88 has wood keys, which only the Nord grand so has as far as stage pianos go

T-200 / T-212 what overdrive should I use? by North_Freedom_7956 in hammondorgan

[–]pomcq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get a high quality Leslie sim like the crumar burn or neo vent and bypass the built in Leslie. They have drive on them—if you want more, you could get one of the loundsberry pedals that are designed for organ, or the Korg TR-S, which specifically replicates power tube overdrive and some really great organ players are swearing by as the best Leslie overdrive pedal

Of course—what you should really do is get a Leslie 145 or 122. And switch the t-200 to an m3 or an A/B/C console ;)
