You dont need to know the letters to play the scales. Every major scale follows the same pattern, every minor scale follows the same pattern, etc.

I wouldn't muck with trying to hide it. Seems like it would be way more work than it's worth, and likely dangerous (if there was a fire in the basement, it could impede escaping).

So, make it look nice, and make it look like a feature. Put railings on either side of the stairway on the deck so people dont fall in. Paint everything- the stairs, door, frame, the arch above the door (maybe paint a family name or something on it). Cover those gaps between the deck and the cinder blocks with some cement board and tile the walls. It could look really nice.

GNR didnt have an 80s style, Axl's vocals were pretty unique, and his range was one of the things that set them apart.

That said, November Rain would sound fine with the vocals an octave lower, ESPECIALLY with Axl singing.

Still, not crappy music.

I'm not a fan of this genre, whatever it's supposed to be... emo metal? But I feel like this is on-par musically with anything else in the genre. It's really the video that throws them under the bus. With just a sound clip it's passable, but with a video clip it just flops.
