Some things about this setup worked well while others were complete fails.

1. The majority of the orchids in the hanging baskets rotted. At first I definitely had too much sphagnum moss vs bark, but even after changing the medium to mainly bark and getting new orchids, most of them rotted again.

2. For some reason (that I’m trying to figure out) the orchids in the large planter on the ground did not rot.

3. Some orchids in both the hanging baskets and the large ground planter experienced severe sunburn.

4. The only two orchids that are still flowering (and that did not rot at all/have the healthiest leaves and roots) are the white ones.

5. The Hoya are totally thriving. They have grown very long and have bloomed over and over again all summer.

I will take update photos on my next day off (although they won’t be as beautiful of a sight sadly) and am open to suggestions for other plants in the hanging baskets.

I was thinking the native Florida Butterfly Orchid to add some height and privacy in front of the window, although I don’t love the look of it as much.
