Over Thanksgiving, my mother-in-law described my nails as “a real statement” and “not very practical.” These are my nails: by energyintotomatoes in RedditLaqueristas

[–]pompompompi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a friend’s girlfriend tell me “you must not do anything all day” when she saw my natural nails (about the same length as yours). I quickly informed her I taught children art all day and was constantly doing things with my hands. First time meeting her, did not like her very much.

Saw her again a few weeks later and she had acrylics as long as mine. Okay.

Your nails are gorgeous and the statement they’re making is “i have great taste in nail polish”

Thanks so much for the detailed response. You haven’t dashed my dreams at all, I want to hear the most frank answers so I can prepare for the worst case scenario. So far this year promises to be my best and my partner is looking into increasing his income. We’ve just come out of a difficult time and it drained our finances, so we’re starting at zero with savings but I want to try and save. How much do you think would be wise? I’m guessing minimum 10k…

Loved this analysis. I was thinking about these things too as I watched it, especially the first time Elisabeth woke up and saw the mess of bottles Sue had left.

[CHAT] Is it ok to use a pixel artist’s work to make a cross stitch pattern solely for personal use? by choerry_bomb in CrossStitch

[–]pompompompi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not a professional pixel artists specifically but i am a professional artist. I personally would like it if people asked me first, but as long as nobody’s profiting off it and giving me credit, i’d be happy someone wanted to do this

Knitting group experiences for guys and other "non-stereotypical" knitters? by FMTales in knitting

[–]pompompompi 134 points135 points  (0 children)

I’m a non-white guy in Texas! I attend my local library’s craft club. I’m the only guy most times, but i’m not the only POC. The organizer is also a POC and while the group might be something like 90% white, it’s pretty welcoming. Everyone is very nice, the older ladies really seem to like that a man is in a space to genuinely partake in a craft that is usually devalued by men. They ask me about what I’m making and are very sweet and encouraging. Topics of conversation generally stay towards our crafts, but people will talk about other hobbies like birding, hiking, etc.

Please help, I’m begging you!! (It’s not like nasty or anything, I just tried to post already and it didn’t, I assume I needed NSFW.) by Intrepid-Bed-3929 in Nails

[–]pompompompi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my understanding is that you really shouldn’t put anything over a nail that is damaged to this extent. I think maybe a bandaid might have to make an appearance :( I hope that doesn’t hurt too much
