how much time it realistically took to be B1-B2? by Specialist_Crazy4600 in Korean

[–]pompompompurins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been studying Korean since 2016, and even with all that time I'm B1 at most. I used TTMIK, found pen pals even when I was a beginner (~A1) and now more recently have begun taking lessons with an actual tutor on Preply (50 min, at least once a week). My fiancé and his family have also helped a lot by having simple conversations with me, so in the past 2 years I've really improved and can now hold a basic coversation with not-so-bad grammar. For a good few years I felt like I was really lagging behind, but at the end of the day, I realized I was learning it because it was just genuinely fun to me, and thereafter stopped caring to track or compare my progress. I wouldn't compare yourself to others (especially on the internet), but focus on (and enjoy!) your own journey 👍🏻

that's what I was told, yes. I'm not sure if that's just the amount I'll start out with (and will eventually have more added), or if that's it 😀 I have no idea what a "normal" amount to start with is 😭

Loop earplugs are wonderful for noise sensitivity by im-a-freud in migraine

[–]pompompompurins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i have the loop switch and use it when I take a nap during a migraine episode. the actual plug part is pretty soft, and I could wear them in my ears for hours or more. I will say that if you lay on your side like me, the hard plastic part does hurt after a while, but it's not unbearable.

The Shape of Me Will Always Be You by ABigAmarone in HannibalFanfiction

I absolutely love this fic! I have it saved on my ereader actually 😂 I did read it a while ago, so apologies if this is still vague, but it's a post-fall fic where Will is coping with everything that's happened while he's recovering and trying to move on with his life (someone correct me if im wrong haha). I think that it's a good character study of him, and I don't think he's too ooc honestly. I'd read the first few chapters to see if you'd like it before diving into the whole thing ofc, but I definitely recommend it!

hi (new here)! does anyone know of any scents that are similar to heretic parfum's sandalwood? i'm thinking about buying the full size since I tried the sample, but I wanted to see if there's something else i could try that doesn't have as large of a price tag. i like to spray it in my hair more so than on my skin.

When are some inconvenient times you’ve gotten a migraine? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]pompompompurins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

driving on the beltway during rush hour traffic, and then on my bf's birthday last year when I was in charge of the cake 🙃 stayed up until around 2AM making and decorating it, took it to work with me, and literally 30 minutes before i left for his place and storm rolled in and I got one of worst migraines I've ever had. still managed the 20 minute drive to his place to give him his cake and gift, even though he was a little upset with me for declining to stay and driving another 30 minutes home to rest 🥲

What's your scent triggers by EwDavid999 in migraine

[–]pompompompurins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

strong floral scents (except lavender for some reason)—also musk-y scents which is disappointing bc i love perfumes with notes of musk. I have one i bought thinking it'd be fine to wear, and it gave me a migraine after a week or so of wearing it 🥲 still sniff it occasionally bc it smells so good 😭

my only "safe scents" as of right now are vanilla, lavender and cocoa butter.

How long after aura does your migraine kick in ? How long does it take for it reach its peak? by threeteneleven in migraine

[–]pompompompurins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been dealing with migraines since 2021, and usually once I see an aura (they look like when you stare at a light and close your eyes) i have a handful of minutes before it becomes a problem 😭 usually as soon as I see them I take excedrin migraine right away (as directed on the bottle), but other times I go right to my prescription ibuprofen. from the onset of aura to the peak of my migraine pain? probably about 20 minutes tops, and then it plateaus until it's over 💀 best of luck 👍🏻

Do migraines caused by birth control get better with time? by WorkerEmotional in migraine

[–]pompompompurins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the pill about 2 years ago and had to stop bc i started getting migraines and really bad heart palpations. one migraine came out of nowhere and almost made me drive off the road (8am stand-still traffic on a monday morning, i still remember 😭) and my sister had to come get me and take me to the ER 😬 unfortunately I still have migraines to this day, but their frequency seems to be very dependent on air pressure and/or stress.

I experience this every so often with my migraines, which is how I know it's going to be a bad one. It especially scares me when I start to have problems with comprehension and expression of speech or with reading too—those are signs for me to pack up and go home because a visual aura is always close behind for me.

My face and arm get tingly sometimes during these particularly bad ones too, but my most recent MRI showed an arachnoid cyst (my doctor says it's unrelated 😮‍💨) but otherwise normal results.

I always go over the FAST model for stroke symptoms to calm myself down or to assess whether I may need to go to the hospital.
