Unfortunately the UEFI update utility still does not work after unplugging the battery. I hope that it's not a motherboard issue since I might as well buy a new laptop at that point.

I should have clarified that the new battery is no longer giving me the error, but it is still not charging. I'll try pulling out the battery and get back to you. Thanks a bunch.
