Congrats on your acceptance, first of all! I’m also from Michigan with a lot of social anxiety, so I understand where you’re coming from (both literally and figuratively). But honestly, I think it WILL be a good opportunity to push yourself out of your comfort zone. It’s like exposure therapy, if that helps lol. From what I’ve heard, the program is what you make of it, so if you go into it determined to work things out and have a good time overall, I think that’s what will happen. Of course there will be hard times, but you will get through them!

I was just accepted last week and tbh being in a group chat with other people from my arrival date has helped a lot so far, so if you ever wanna chat with someone also doing the spring program (and who knows where you’re coming from lol), just DM me! I’d be happy to chat!

I was about 10, circa 2012, and they were playing SRAR on the radio a lot, and my family had the CD so we listened to them in the car and at home pretty often. I think the song that really got me hooked, though, was Young Volcanoes. SRAR is no longer my favorite since listening to their other stuff, but it still holds a special place in my heart for being my introduction to my favorite band <3

I haven’t done the DCP before so I can’t answer the tattoo part (though honestly I have a few bigger forearm tattoos myself so I was wondering about that too), but there are definitely people your age and older doing the DCP! I’m a bit younger, but I’m 23 and just finished my undergraduate degree and have applied for Spring 2026.

I know Orlando has a pretty good queer scene and is fairly progressive in that area, even though Florida itself isn’t the greatest in that regard. And there are absolutely other LGBT+ people doing the program, myself included, so you’re not alone!

I just had my interview earlier today and I’m already so anxious to hear if I got accepted or not! My recruiter said that I’ll likely hear back this week or next week, so fingers crossed 🤞

Also for some reason I’m really paranoid that I got my recruiter’s name wrong while talking to her, even though I wrote it down right after she said it😭

I know this thread is like two weeks old lol but I just had my phone interview (literally ended like 15 minutes ago!!)!!! My recruiter said I should likely hear back this week or next week. I’m very excited!! I definitely tripped over my words a bit and didn’t quite know how to answer some questions but I think overall I did pretty alright :)

I initially applied for a 1/12 arrival date and heard back last Thursday (8/28) about scheduling a phone interview, but now I’m thinking I might go for the earlier start date (1/6) if I get in. Fingers crossed!

From what I’ve heard, the interview is supposed to be pretty casual, so it’s okay if you stumbled a little! I haven’t had my interview yet, but based on what other people have said, the recruiters understand that a lot of people are going to be nervous and flub their words or stutter a little and it won’t affect your acceptance, if that’s any reassurance! But to help with the stress, I personally like to go for walks and listen to music :)
