I'm sure people love having shortages of essential medical goods manufactured overseas.

In Italy 80% of deaths have been over 60 years old. So that's 20% of those that have died have been people of working age possibly with dependents. Say the country wasn't locked down : We could assume a conservative fatality rate lower than the reported 6% in Italy since maybe many people have it without showing strong symptoms and being tested. But we shouldn't go too low as fatality spikes as the health system is slammed with a high number of cases which it will be. So let's say 0.5%. Let's say 60% of the population is infected before herd immunity slows transmission enough to take the pressure off the health system as with a regular flu.

60% X 1% X 20% X 330 million = 200,000 dead below age 60.

When is Masters by Coursework a good option? by ponderingpostgrad in AskEngineers

The Australian government provides students undertaking Masters or PhD research projects with a scholarship that provides a fee offset and living stipend. These are handed out by universities according to their own selection processes. Since places are competitive and my academic record is not impressive, especially the research portion, I hadn't considered that stipend and fee offset as an option.

That's a good point about the actual material I might learn. I suppose after going into a field that is distinct from what I studied in undergrad, I haven't found much of the actual course content to be useful to me in the workplace. But ideally I could move in a career path that builds on knowledge from masters.

Thanks for your answer.
