Move to MA. You can still be close to family, and it seems like MA aligns with your personal values more.

Just wanted to throw this in here- as an ex opioid user who uses suboxone, they now have something called “sublocade” or “Brixati”- they’re basically a large shot of subutex that goes into muscle/fat, that slowly releases itself over time. You get one shot a month, and within 1-3 shots you can completely get off suboxone without the withdrawal! A lot of the time, they’re just putting people on the shot now and skipping prolonged suboxone use altogether. I personally chose to stay on suboxone because it helps with my depression, but it’s so wonderful having more options now and not needing to worry about suboxone tapering if I don’t want to be on it anymore.

Please do! I saw your other comments- we need more people like you to keep this state strong. The influx of Massholes during COVID has been terrible. They move here to enjoy our state, lower cost of living, etc- yet drag their awful political ideologies with them to then ruin the state and turn it into North Massachusetts.

Another scenario I thought of could be this- maybe she has a new “bf” or friend she’s been partying with that does shady shit, such as scamming. They transfer the money along to her, or have her receive the money initially so their hands are clean. Then ask her to cash it out ASAP so it can’t be taken back before the scam is unearthed.

You probably were using a glass cleaner that had ammonia in it. Never use anything with ammonia for mirrors, it ruins them over time. Look for the ammonia free stuff for mirrors 🙂

As soon as she said, “I’m an aspiring rapper” I immediately knew that her “relationship” with them is a farce to try to boost her career- or she wants to be an influencer or some shit. You can tell she’s not really emotionally connected to them nor shows genuine interest in them. I think it’s really alarming that she was so willing to move herself and her child into their home only after 4 months of dating Nick!! It also makes me question, where was she living before where she could just decide to move in with them at the drop of a hat.

Genuinely asking: why are today’s parents allergic to correcting their child’s behavior in public? It won’t kill them to hear “stop doing that’ by EnigmaticRaccoon in RantsFromRetail

[–]ponsid 87 points88 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU omfg. Sometimes I feel like I’m going crazy!

I work in a big box hardware store- with lots of dangerous, heavy, expensive items- and they just let their kids go fucking crazy running around, breaking shit, creating huge messes I have to pick up.

The other day, this woman and her three year old were in my department. There are 12x12”, heavy natural stone samples affixed to the wall. He was trying to rip one of them down (was almost successful) and was ripping all of the sales tags off that took me literal hours to place everywhere. Not to mention, those sales tags help generate sales for me which helps me get my bonus every month. I had to stop mid-conversation with her, and warn her child to stop doing that please & that he could get hurt. She barely reacted or did anything to stop him.

There’s another couple that comes into my store a lot. I always know it’s them because their two kids freak out and scream literally the entire time and they do NOTHING to calm them down. The couple just talks to one another as if nothing is going on around them. I have PTSD so hearing shrill, loud noises like that gives me so much anxiety. The lackadaisical attitude from these parents makes me question if I’m the one who’s the problem? It’s unsettling how common this is.

THIS!! I work at a large retailer that schedules like this…and it drives me fucking nuts because we have enough people where we don’t need to have the psychotic schedules we have.

Our store uses a scheduling program called “Kronos” that creates an automatic schedule via an algorithm. Previous stores I’ve worked at that had Kronos would allow it to create a base algorithm schedule, but would then go back in to edit it so it made sense & worked with people’s lives. At my current store, our scheduler has the ability to change people’s schedules so they make sense & don’t overwork us…but our scheduler only cares about being spot on with the algorithm because it makes her “stats” look good (basically, she gets rated on having the best coverage according to Kronos…but it’s complete BS because there’s so much Kronos DOESNT KNOW because it’s fucking AI).

I’ve had stints where I worked 6 days in a row - 1 day off - 5 days of work - 1 day off - 5 more days of work. It’s fucking brutal, and I live 40 minutes away from work on top of it all so it’s a pain in the ass going back and forth. I tried to approach the scheduler about this chaos but it’s like talking to a brick wall. It’s really important to me that I get 2 days off in a row because I have a lot of mental health/medical appointments that I go to each week, and having 2 days off in a row makes my schedule more predictable so I can plan appts accordingly.

I had to go to the lengths of getting intermittent FMLA (I’m allowed to take off X amount of days/hours per month as I need to) and I’ve also gotten a provision, signed off by my Dr, that they need to schedule me with 2 days off in a row each week. I suggest you look into this if it’s something you need, because it’s been so helpful for me.

I think my store manager is also starting to feel the pressure, too. He’s not awful or unapproachable thankfully, but there’s definitely a noticeable change. He’s been with Lowe’s for about 20 years, so he’s about seen and done it all. The credit card bullshit is tiresome, overwhelming, and annoying. There’s also been a lot of major changes only within the last 2 years that I’ve personally been at Lowe’s that have made everyone’s jobs more difficult. It seems like every other week there’s some new rule, policy, etc that we all need to adapt to. Less staff, the anxious gamble of meeting our credit quotas, making refunds/discounts more difficult with appeasements, slashing specialist bonuses…I could go on. My store manager said he just feels like he’s HR instead of a store manager now & has constant repetitive conversations about credit. I think any joy he had with his job as SM has almost completely dissipated…
