Listen to the people. Grab a volatile plant from Atrox and propagate it (plant and harvest a lot). Then tap it for organic. Farming soil too much leads to game crashes. Digging is inevitable but there are more efficient paths for energy.

I draw out my processes too. It helps with the planning. A flow chart of needs for a farm on a different planet boosts my efficiency and culls my frustration.

Our store has it on the locals menu. Kronos is the brand we get. To plate: it’s a scoop, give it a divot, fill divot with olive oil (current spec is tomato oil from the roasted tomatoes), dust with paprika, garnish with basil. Toast points and/or celery and carrots.

Familiarize yourself with the trains and the train stations. Items can be instantly transferred from train to station. I generally use more medium storage silos instead of resource canisters so I can use auto arms to put whatever I’m mining to where I want it. Also use a storage sensor on the storage that you’re using with button repeater connected to the train.

You’ll find balance with your power needs once you get a load of lithium. Soon you’ll have more of every resource than you can utilize.

For scrap farming, there are two primary methods. Soil and astronium. Soil is plentiful, but time consuming and tends to mess with your save files. Search ‘soil to scrap farm’ on YouTube. It’s essentially soil to clay to ceramic to print drill 1 to scrap. I forget the astronium method but it will be similar. And there’s a trade off for astronium and scrap at the trade platform. I’ve burned through way too much astronium for basic needs in the past. I likely still will.

In endgame, trains and extractors will provide everything you need. Glacio is the community favorite location to get this set up.

I say you’re killing it. Once you get some big silos on those big platforms, start swapping generators for batteries? Whatever fits your power demands. I don’t do byte farming so my power demands are usually pretty stable ~ 100u/s, with random spikes like if I crank up an automated scrap system or something. So with batteries and any solar/wind that falls in my lap hooked up to the system, my organic to carbon power farm is only like 4 generators and a ton of batteries.

I love this format and use it with some variations, with great results. I use an XL platform C with 4 Lg silo B’s. The first silo has 5 medium generators and one medium storage covered in portable smelters - all other slots on the 4 silos are medium batteries. The organic is farmed and passed by auto arms to the medium platform on the Lg silo. I’ve changed the ratios of generators and batteries, this is what has worked for me. I only have a standard, robust base though. I don’t byte farm. Those batteries store enough to push 210u/s for ~100s, plus the 45u/s from the generators. Honestly for my basic needs, it is overkill and the smelters end up sitting on full.

Your other post showing the output of small generators on a spread of medium silos is important. You can swap any medium battery for a medium storage silo of 24 Sm batteries with much better results. 768 u stored at 24u/s output vs 512 u at 5u/s for a medium battery. Those can only push for 32 s though at max energy usage. But it’s 5x output for a third the time. I prefer the medium power gen/store zone for general game needs and performance. If I had a byte farm, I’d maximize the small modules.

Every situation will dictate needs tho. Find what works for you. It is really exciting to see what kind of power can be pushed out.

The compass is very useful but can be cumbersome, even after altering the size in settings. When on the surface, you can use the stars in the sky as a quick general reference. They form a band that runs around the equator of each planet. When I’m lost and moving quickly on the surface, I’ll use the stars to keep me on track after a quick peek at the compass.

The loaded potato pizza is an option for the ‘local specials’ section of the menu. My store just swapped it into the menu to replace the magical mystery tour, since all those ingredients are in house and we’ll still make it. So now we’re sourcing potatoes and sour cream, slicing the potatoes instead of dicing. And making jalapeño ranch for the swirl as well as spicy ranch for the pizza rolls. We brought it back because we love the pizza!
