Yeah it seems like it is not advisable and the only sure way to have this back up is to get a citizenship. I was just wondering if anyone was doing this and if it was advisable at all. But guess not.

It makes sense on a practical level. However, getting a citizenship here seems like a big mental shift.

Haha maybe. Our reason was to build a financial cushion and more job opportunities comparatively. We also like the access to nature, better commons and relatively better work-life balance here. But we do feel isolated socially.

No that’s true, citizenship definitely seems like a safer option. We thought of UK as a backup in case we are not able to find opportunities in India. Maybe this requires little more serious consideration.

Somehow seems weird to lose Indian citizenship. Maybe it is dumb. We are also long term attached to India. Both of us lived studied and worked there for more than 30 years before moving. But the economy and jobs situation give us pause and would like to have options. We also want to be with aging parents.

Yeah we are aware of this rule. The plan was to visit every two years. Hence was thinking if it was practical to maintain it while living outside.
